In time for the new school year--and the P(doom) debate--I'm pleased to say that my book "Capitalism and Its Critics: A History from the Industrial Revolution to AI" is available in paperback.

At the risk of invoking Godwin's Law, I would gently point out that Goebbels stayed in the bunker to the end, too...
Looks like Trump is going full Icona Pop. Doubling down on data centers; promoting Miller to WH chief of staff. He don't care...

Good point. Straight out of a Saul Bellow novel.
Listen to El-Sayed. Yes, he's cocky. Yes, he doesn't hide his brains. He has enough confidence in himself and in his identity to let everyone know that he will never accept anything less than full equality. That he and people like him will redefine what it means to be American.
You know who he reminds me of: All those brash Jews who crashed through the barriers of antisemitism in the middle of the last century.
I am an American, Michigan-born.

I've been in politics for a quarter century. It's hard to express how staggering it is to see a conversation like this on corporate US media. The Morning Joe panel gobsmacked by the directness of @AbdulElSayed's points.

And empties it very skillfully.

"The American people expect a certain amount of corruption in government because government is composed of people, and men aren’t angels. They’ll accept a normal amount if the government keeps a strong economy and peace. But fail on the economy and peace and they’ll see your corruption and be angered by it. And if you give them corruption that is showy and shameless, they will punish you. They will admit to themselves that you are unusually sleazy and moneygrubbing—Bitcoin! Crypto! Charges of pardons for sale! Federal contracts for the companies of the sons! PLS WIRE AMEX 100K SOONEST!—and they will turn on you.
"In this regard most of all, this White House drove the Republican brand into the ground.

I'm thinking today of the tech oligarchs (and even the subgarchs) who got interested in politics in about 2023 and like many newbs down through the years didn't hear the part about the incumbent party not remaining in power forever.😢
What are the business deals associated with this pro-Russian initiative and exactly who benefits? Two more questions for the new Democratic Congress to look into.
Here's some essential background from my colleague Dexter Filkins.

Here's the full 2 minute clip where Trump says he met today with a top Putin crony, adds that a Russia-Ukraine deal will involve "all of Europe," admits he didn't meet with the Ukrainian delegation, then downplays Russia's ongoing atrocities in Ukraine, claiming "Russia is losing civilians also"

I have covered hedge funds for nearly 16 years, and I can't remember a day like today. Here's what happened in the space of about ten hours:

🚨 Don Jr Says the Iran War Largely Caused the Republican Losses in the Midterms
“Whether you think it was the right decision or not, the Iran war is largely what shifted voter sentiment and caused this wave. It jacked up the price of gas … and it it changed their minds. We also campaigned on not getting into these things.”
