JAY-Z called Lil Durk "kind, respectful and focused on his career" in a letter addressed to the court urging Judge Michael Fitzgerald to release Durk on bond. JAY-Z said he believed Durk should be given the opportunity to spend the months leading up to his second trial, where he will face a VICAR (Violent Crimes in Aid of Racketeering) charge, with his family. The Alexander brothers have each been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. Tal, Oren and Alon Alexander received their sentences Tuesday following their convictions in a sex-trafficking case involving the drugging and sexual assault of women and minors. During an emotional hearing in Manhattan, 12 women confronted the brothers as U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni compared their public personas and criminal conduct to “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” Read more by @conlin_lauren at the link below. lamag.com/crimeinla/alexande…

L.A. residents are fed up with skyrocketing LADWP bills. Angelenos packed Tuesday’s Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Board of Commissioners meeting to voice concerns over rising utility bills, while others gathered in the halls to watch a livestream. Residents are reporting unexpectedly high utility bills, with some households facing charges in the thousands. Residents are demanding answers about what's driving the increases and why costs have become so difficult to manage. Micah Reed, a former UCLA football player and creator of the “Cap the Heat Tax” petition, formally addressed the board, joining numerous other petition signers who also spoke out. Reed delivered the petition, which had garnered nearly 40,000 signatures in less than four weeks, and called for an independent audit. He thanked both mayoral candidates Nithya Raman and Karen Bass for calling for the same. Read more by @TaylorParise at the link below. lamag.com/news/we-need-relie…

ALEXANDER BROTHERS: Judge Valerie Caproni imposes a 30-year-sentence plus over $300k in fines to Tal, Oren, and Alon Alexander. The brothers were convicted in March on a slew of federal sex-trafficking charges. The judge told the brothers, “You’re like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde…” @conlin_lauren reports for @LAmag
🚨🚨ALEXANDER BROTHERS: 30 YEARS + 20 YEARS to be served concurrently. JUDGE: Your crimes wreaked havoc. It wasn’t enough to rape them, but you had to humiliate them. (She also shared that Tal and Alon were assaulted once in the MDC). All three brothers say they are innocent(Oren and Alon more so than Tal). @LAmag

ALEXANDER BROTHERS SENTENCING TODAY: Sentencing for convicted sex traffickers Oren, Alon and Tal Alexander begins at 10 a.m. ET in Manhattan federal court, NOT 11 a.m. as previously circulated. Expect a long hearing, potentially lasting all day, with10- 11 women expected to deliver victim impact statements. Judge Valerie Caproni will weigh federal sentencing guideline levels and enhancements before determining each brother’s punishment. Prosecutors want LIFE. The defense wants 15 years. I’ll be covering the proceedings for @LAmag but will be without my phone/laptop for most of the day. I will return with updates during breaks and EOD! And a surprise cameo in my video.. Marc and Karen Agnifilo.

We are not hiding anything. Every ad includes the proper disclosures, which is precisely how Raman’s campaign knew who to file a complaint against. Since she is so eager to draw attention to our work, we are happy to share the ads again. The real question is why a sitting councilmember running for mayor is so threatened by satire and scrutiny of her record.
