🍃 1 year late, but finally here: Leaflet v2.0.0-beta.1 is out! ⚡️ Pure ES classes, fully tree-shakeable, first-class TypeScript types, faster rendering, much better accessibility, 40+ bugs fixed. Please please give it a try! github.com/Leaflet/Leaflet/r…
At this point Leaflet is as stable and polished ever, and the only thing holding up the final release is we want to give app and plugin authors a bit more time to try it out and give us some feedback.
So don't hesitate to try upgrading and let us know how it goes! 🙏🍃
We've overhauled the Leaflet plugin database to be much easier to navigate and make sense of, and added a new section to highlight the plugins that are ready for Leaflet v2. Don't forget to update yours if you're an author — the release is getting closer! leafletjs.com/plugins
v2.0.0-beta.2 is out! Now with built-in fullscreen control, an i18n helper, improvements to canvas events, crisper zoom control, and a dozen bug and accessibility fixes. We're getting closer! Have a happy Friday and a nice weekend 🙌

During the Leaflet v2 beta period, we're looking into updating the most popular plugins, and here's the first one: Leaflet.heat with the first release in 11 years! Now modernized and ready for both v1 and v2 — much faster, ESM, TypeScript and more: github.com/Leaflet/Leaflet.h…
The final release is coming soon — just needs a bit more polish and a few plugins catching up, but meanwhile we'd really appreciate any feedback. Try migrating your codebase and let us know if you run into any trouble: github.com/Leaflet/Leaflet/b…
New one it is! 2x faster (since there’s no separate shadow image), plus some nice extras: built in colorization and rotation. Just landed — and a new beta is just around the corner! github.com/Leaflet/Leaflet/p…

Earlier in my career I worked on geospatial data/mapping almost exclusively.
I'm so glad to see leaflet still going at a time that's increasingly tough for open source.
One of my favorite libraries 💜
The default Leaflet marker icon might get an overhaul for 2.0! Which style do you prefer — the current one on the left or the new one on the right?
It's been a while, but it's happening. ❤️ github.com/Leaflet/Leaflet/i…

A moment exactly 14 years ago. Later that year, what you see on the screens got released as @LeafletJS. At the time, I never would have dreamed of how much this little piece of code would impact my career and the mapping software industry as a whole. Good times!
Hey friends, our website got down due to a misconfigiration of domain DNS settings — it should be back to normal but may take a few hours to propagate across the world. Sorry for the trouble!
Did you know the creator of Leaflet is also the frontman of an exceptional band with beautiful music? This is the best thing you'll see and hear today. 🎵 rain.in.ua/go/dity
Friends, today my band @obiymydoschu has released a new song from the upcoming album with a video made by my twin daughters. It's a true labour of love — can't put into words how proud it makes me. Please watch, listen, add to your playlists and share ❤️ youtu.be/148g23r8PjI

Here's my conversation with @mourner on the story behind @LeafletJS, arguably the simplest mapping library and used on maps all over the Internet today
We talk about what makes maps complicated, keeping code simple, open source & life in Ukraine

This is really cool, and sports a nice Leaflet example in the “Getting started” tutorial 👏
Today we’re launching a bold new vision: an open-source static site generator — Observable Framework — for creating fast, beautiful data apps you can host anywhere. Use JavaScript for interactive graphics with Python, R, or any language for data analysis. observablehq.com
