Heading to Yukon again tomorrow for another round of fieldwork and community engagement. Photo was just sent by a member of the group who was doing some 24 hour measurements of shrub stomatal conductance. Looks like night is coming.... then winter....
Wayne Rouse was a driving force on my committee during my MSc and PhD. He cared deeply about Canada’s north, climate change, and everyone he met. Much of his work was ‘pre internet’ and now overlooked. Looking back, Wayne was far ahead of the curve in every way. Remember him.

Canada Day Special for those interested in lake evaporation: An open-source refactoring of the Canadian Small Lakes Model for estimates of evaporation from medium-sized reservoirs. Thanks Graham Clark for the work and ECCC's Murray McKay for the model! gmd.copernicus.org/articles/…
Congratulations Arsh @ak__grewal on a smashing PhD defence! So much work and so much travel! Excited to hear about your post doc adventures at Michigan State!
As #EGU2024 winds down, Arsh @ak__grewal wows the crowd with his work using stable isotopes and SAS frameworks @CiaranJHarman to provide new insights into permafrost hydrology. PhD almost there!
Check out Arsh's @ak__grewal new #OpenAccess paper in @HydroProcesses that finally looks in the 'black box' that was Wolf Creek @WolfCreekYT for many years. Flows, isotopes and solutes showed unexpected results. Lots of type 2 fun fieldwork here! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
Lots of help with this work from many folks in the field. @cryo_h2o @dbarrett867 @Erin_Nicholls_ @bourkeinsocks @ali_fristensky @annarctic @CalvinnNewbery thank you. This picture shows some of the adventure.

Looking to do a M.Sc? Come join me and work in the worlds largest mud-flats! A hugely overlooked ecosystem that is full of complex, poorly understood, carbon sinking potential! [1/2]
On the final day of #AGU23 Arsh @ak__grewal wows the masses with his work on runoff processes, water ages and SAS functions in the permafrost underlain @TombstoneWaters . Thanks @CiaranJHarman for the support.
Shrubs, permafrost, hydrology, climate, ecology... and their interactions. Who knew? Cory Wallace @CoryWallace7 at his poster today knew! What the future holds for rapidly chaining northern environments is a big focus here at #AGU2013. @forestecogroup @CompHyd_Earth
Great talk by Arsh @ak__grewal on day 1 of #AGU23. Big crowd to listen about the influence of permafrost and frozen ground on flow-solute relations.
Where is the snow!?!?
Not the most exciting snow survey @WolfCreekYT but it was really nice to have @jtylerdejong back in the field.
TODAY!!!!
