AI’s next breakthrough needs more than smarter algorithms. It needs the silicon, power, sensors, and security to make it work.
In my latest SmartTechCheck EduSeries video, I take you inside @Infineon’s OktoberTech at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. From AI data center power and physical AI to automotive innovation and edge computing, the event showed why semiconductor “ingredient” companies matter to the products we use every day.
My interview with #AdamWhite explores a critical question: How do we power AI’s growing ambitions? I also highlight standout demos and keynote insights connecting technology’s potential with practical engineering.

Why is @Infineon's announcement such a big deal?
AI’s hunger for power just met a bold response from Infineon. The company plans to invest €1.1 billion in Villach, Austria, to scale production of gallium nitride power semiconductors on 300 mm wafers. The payoff: more chips per wafer and the potential for more efficient AI data centers, energy infrastructure, electric vehicles and robotics.
With production targeted by the end of 2027, Infineon is making a statement: the AI race runs on power.

Hey Dr. Johnson, won't it take fixing our 50th-of-50 states (2.06 lawyers per 1k residents) justice system to attract investment to South Carolina? Are you on top of the US Supreme Court petition aiming to create digital parity for all people in SC?

Who Gets Justice in South Carolina?
2-Tiered System Exposed and now now before the US Supreme Court. ...
... Along with Charleston's Commercial Real Estate and Government Power Network's protection of insiders at the expense of the vulnerable.

A tenant lawsuit whose plaintiffs say South Carolina's two-track filing system degraded the evidence they needed to be seen.

We addressed the digital filing divide directly:
On Aug 19, we emailed our U.S. Supreme Court Certiorari Petition to the Charleston County Clerk of Court.
On Aug 20, the Clerk accepted that email, and - even though, as Respondent, it had zero duty to docket it - printed the digital PDF to paper, and scanned it (using a 1980s-style 1-bit bitonal setting on 123 of 125 pages), stripping the vector text layer and degrading the visual exhibits. Then it docketed the newly-degraded digital file.
On Oct 23, we emailed a Notice of Demand for Visibility Parity, offering a labor-saving turnkey protocol: print and physically stamp Page 1 only, email Page 1 back, and our software overlays the official stamp onto the native vector PDF so search engines, legal aggregators, and AI systems can index self-represented filings on equal footing with corporate lawyers.
Yesterday (Oct 26), a Court Management Supervisor removed all judges and lawyers from the email chain and wrote back:
"The Clerk of Court does not accept emailed filing."
Apparently, email is accepted when they can strip the text layer and degrade the evidence, but email is refused the moment a citizen asks for equal digital fidelity.
Today we restored the entire judicial and counsel service list, formally invoked the 14th Amendment, 1st Amendment, and ADA Title II, and put a direct question on the record with a deadline of October 28, 2026 (tomorrow) at 5 PM
And we addressed this list of attorneys, judges, and court administrators with statistics and a question:
Since creating the lawyer-legislator Judicial Merit Selection Commission (JMSC) in 1997 under a "Justice Requires Status" model, South Carolina has fallen to:
50th of 50 states in attorneys per capita (2.06 vs. 3.94 U.S. average)
SC is 47th on the @NCAJ Justice Index for self-represented access and pays a ~$62,000/yr average income penalty for SC lawyers compared to the top 10 open-access states.
It certainly appears that trying to corner the market by handicapping unrepresented citizens broke the system by draining our independent judicial decision making capacity and thereby depleting public trust.
And it's a public confidence issue: It wouldn't be unfair for an observing public to ask, "If attorneys add value, why the need to deliberately and systemically (not to mention unconstitutionally) obstruct pro se?"
To be clear, we believe good lawyers add tremendous value but a bad system hurts all of us, but especially them.
So we asked them,
"What is the legal, administrative, or public-interest argument against adopting "Most Vulnerable Member" (MVM) centered design?"

Mark's take: @HPE is declaring war on network blind spots. By unifying wired, wireless, and SASE visibility with agentic AI, HPE wants to turn fragmented network management into proactive intelligence. The bigger play? Networks that anticipate problems before users notice.
This could be a game changer for enterprise IT.

@WordPress notice and steps to verify whether or not one’s website uses the latest PHP software is here:
The PHP project has released fixes for 2 critical vulnerabilities affecting servers that host PHP applications. Site owners and technical teams should confirm their hosting provider’s update plan and update PHP immediately. Versions before PHP 8.2 no longer receive security updates. These issues are not specific to WordPress, and no WordPress update is required. wp.me/pZhYe-5Gb

@Apple took seven years to fold. At $1,999, the iPhone Duo had better do more than bend.
I’m Mark Vena, CEO and Principal Analyst at SmartTech Research. Apple provided an early review unit, and I put it through a real travel test: two flights, live Giants football between Las Vegas and Phoenix, and an unexpected question—do I still need to pack my iPad?
The Duo’s impeccable design and thoughtful software make a compelling first impression. That initially “squatter” outer screen gives way to a tablet-like experience that changes how you watch, read, work, and frame podcast interviews. It also turns heads. Strangers at the airport bar and on the plane wanted a closer look.
But a premium price doesn’t erase first-generation compromises. Limited camera zoom, no variable aperture, a puzzling preference for right-handed controls, and unanswered long-term durability questions deserve more than a footnote.
My verdict: a terrific first-generation foldable iPhone. Whether it’s worth your money depends on how often you’ll use what makes it different.

AI can make a brilliant prediction, but it won’t help much if the package never made it onto the truck.
Impinj is bringing AI down to earth with RAIN RFID technology that helps businesses see where physical goods actually are.
Its Physical Intelligence strategy tackles one of enterprise AI’s biggest blind spots: decisions are only as good as the real world data behind them.
In my latest SmartTechCheck newsletter, I explore why that visibility matters and what Impinj must prove to turn its vision into measurable results.
