We gathered at Old Town Plaza to remember Dolores Huerta and the life she dedicated to fighting for dignity, fairness and a better future for working families.
Through a small ceremony and an ofrenda, we honored her legacy and the countless lives she touched.
For Albuquerque, Dolores was never just a figure from the history books; she kept coming back to her home state, to stand with workers, families, and advocates in our community.
Dolores will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on in the words she gave us: ¡Sí, se puede!”

The President of the United States has once again suggested renaming New Mexico to “New America.”
Let’s be clear: we will always be New Mexico.
Our name carries centuries of history, culture, tradition and identity. Still New Mexico. Still the Land of Enchantment.

More than 50 years ago, Virginia “Ginger” Lee Grossetete helped open Palo Duro Senior Center as Albuquerque’s first senior center. As its first employee and supervisor, she helped establish programs that became a model for senior services across our city.
Thank you, Ginger!
Today, we broke ground on a new development along Central Avenue near Old Town that will bring 70 new homes to Albuquerque.
La Curva will help working families find a home they can afford, all with a design inspired by the curve of Central Avenue, Route 66 and Old Town.
Enjoying the Balloon Fiesta with my family this weekend - trading pins and taking in one of Albuquerque’s most special traditions. 🎈 Hope you had a great first weekend of Balloon Fiesta, Albuquerque!
We proclaimed September 28th as Wu-Tang Clan Day in Albuquerque. 👐
The Wu-Tang Clan has a long history in our city, from playing chess at our iconic Jack Candelaria Community Center, a free concert in 2023 and now returning last night to the Amphitheater.
Getting Albuquerque ready for Balloon Fiesta!
Thousands of City employees pitched in today to pick up trash and help get our city ready to welcome visitors from around the world.
Want to pitch in? Call 311 to find cleanup opportunities near you.
While AFR is running low on sandbags, we appreciate Bernalillo County for stepping in to provide additional supplies in while we replenish our stock.
Also, trash pickup may be delayed as crews navigate the weather. We’ll have more information on timing and service impacts soon.
The Rio Grande Rivalry is this Saturday and I have a little bet with Las Cruces Mayor Eric Enriquez: whoever loses has to fly the other team’s flag at City Hall.
No pressure, Mayor Enriquez.
Let’s go, Lobos!

The Luminaria Tour is ON! 🚌🎄
We’re keeping one of Albuquerque’s holiday traditions this year with enough luminarias to ruin the Grinch’s Christmas plans.
