TESTIMONIAL THURSDAY Meet Thandiwe Articia Nqotheni, a young female agripreneur from Mpumalanga, who is the founder of Jonnitaloyi Trading Enterprise. The Plant Production graduate from University of Mpumalanga is using her agricultural knowledge to grow a business that produces Mozambique tilapia and vegetables, including spinach and cabbage. She also supplies tilapia fingerlings to emerging fish farmers. In 2024, Thandiwe attended a five-day Business Management Training programme with SEDA to strengthen her entrepreneurial skills. Following this training, she began applying for NYDA Grant at Secunda Branch, to support her farming operations. Through the NYDA Grant Programme, Thandiwe received funding that enabled her to purchase protective netting for her vegetables and fish dam. The vegetable netting helps protect crops from pests and excessive sun exposure, while the dam netting helps protect her fish from predators. Her commitment to learning also took her to China in 2025, where she attended a seminar on climate change and marine sustainable development. This international exposure broadened her understanding of sustainable agriculture and aquaculture, informing her vision for a resilient farming business. Thandiwe aims to build an integrated fish and vegetable enterprise that contributes to food security, creates employment opportunities for rural youth and supports emerging farmers.
