Mucha’s vision of the four seasons 🍁❄️🌸☀️ Alphonse Mucha often worked in series, from the times of the day and months of the year to flowers and precious stones. This series features allegories of the four seasons, the first of three such projects he created on that theme. Each poster shows a beautiful woman in nature, surrounded by foliage, her pose and expression evoking her season. Light-hearted and whimsical, Mucha’s art epitomizes Art Nouveau’s dreamy idealization of nature and its rosy worldview. See the seasons at OKCMOA in “The Triumph of Nature: Art Nouveau from the Chrysler Museum of Art.” Visit okcmoa.com/triumphofnature. -- “The Triumph of Nature: Art Nouveau from the Chrysler Museum of Art” is organized by the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, VA and toured by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC.

In 1895, Siegfried Bing, an Asian art dealer in Paris, transformed his gallery into the Maison de l’Art Nouveau [House of Art Nouveau]. Working with a select group of furniture makers and artists, the Parisian gallery offered whole Art Nouveau interiors, including wallpaper, furniture, architectural trim, fireplaces, and lighting, as well as vases, pictures, clocks, and desk wares. The gallery, and Bing’s pavilion at the 1900 World’s Fair in Paris, had a transformative impact, feeding the craze for Art Nouveau, which dominated European decorative arts until the First World War (1914-1918). Several of the artworks on view in “The Triumph of Nature: Art Nouveau from the Chrysler Museum of Art,” like Hector Guimard's “Panel for the Paris Métro,” were featured in Bing’s pavilion. Buy your tickets today to discover the story behind Art Nouveau and see its influence firsthand in “The Triumph of Nature.” 🏺🎨 Visit okcmoa.com/triumphofnature to plan your visit. -- “The Triumph of Nature: Art Nouveau from the Chrysler Museum of Art” is organized by the Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, VA and toured by International Arts & Artists, Washington, DC.
