Media Literacy Week: Break the Fake
See something online that makes you do a double-take? Not everything we see, read or share online is reliable.
💡Quick tip: Break the fake in four steps: use fact-checking tools, find the original source, verify the source and check what other reliable sources are saying.

🐯 At St. Matthew High School, generosity came roaring to life. At the Tiger Prowl 2026, students, staff and families at St. Matthew HS collected more than 5,000 cans of food and raised over $6,000 for the Community Compassion Centre.
The impressive totals tell only part of the story. By coming together to support neighbours experiencing food insecurity, students saw how individual acts of generosity can build momentum, create collective change and provide meaningful support to local families.
It was also a powerful reminder that faith becomes most meaningful when it is put into action. 💚
See how the St. Matthew community answered the call to Nourish New Beginnings.

Media Literacy Week: Algorithms & AI Literacy
How much of what we see online is influenced by algorithms and AI?
Today, we’re encouraging our community to stay curious and think critically about the technology shaping our digital experiences.
💡Quick tip: AI can be a helpful tool, but it isn’t an infallible source of information. Check facts, consider the source and think twice before sharing.

It’s Canadian Down Syndrome Week!
Belonging means being welcomed, included and valued for who you are. Across the #OCSB, every student brings their own strengths, personality and perspective to their school community.
This week, we celebrate people with Down syndrome and the friendships, connections and everyday moments that make our schools places where everyone belongs.
Let’s take the time to notice, celebrate and appreciate what each person brings to our school communities. 💙💛

🙏💙 Today, we take a moment to give thanks for the many blessings in our lives and for the goodness and love God shares with us each day.
Across the OCSB, may we continue to notice the many ways God is present in our lives and remember to approach each day with grateful hearts.
As we share this prayer, we thank God for His steadfast love and ask Him to help us recognize our blessings and always remember to give thanks. 🙏
“Give thanks to him, bless his name. For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever…” — Psalm 100:4-5

Creating change begins with one voice.
As a student at St. Pius X High School and an OCSB Student Trustee, Nyameer Gony championed student leadership, equity, and belonging. Through her advocacy and service, she helped create opportunities for others to be heard and empowered.
This Women's History Month, we celebrate Nyameer for showing that leadership is about using your voice to build stronger, more inclusive communities and inspiring others to do the same.

Today, on Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day, we’re celebrating the caring educators who help our youngest learners grow, discover and feel like they belong.
Meet Nasim, an Early Childhood Educator at the OCSB!
For Nasim, working in early learning is an opportunity to be a voice and advocate for children. She values building meaningful relationships with her students, recognizing their individual strengths and creating a classroom where they feel valued, heard and capable.
Creativity is also a big part of Nasim’s classroom. She puts care and thought into creating meaningful learning experiences, finding engaging ways for students to learn about the world around them, recognize days that matter and develop confidence, independence and empathy along the way.
Her passion for education extends beyond the Kindergarten classroom. Nasim is also a Part-Time College Professor at Algonquin College, where she teaches and supports future educators as they prepare to begin their own careers. From helping some of our youngest students learn and grow to sharing her experience with the next generation of educators, teaching and learning are woven into so much of what she does.
Nasim also values the opportunities she has had to continue learning and growing as an educator at the OCSB, and the collaboration and professional learning that have helped strengthen her practice.
Today, we celebrate Nasim and all of the Child Care Workers and Early Childhood Educators across the #OCSB who bring care, creativity and enthusiasm to their classrooms every day. Thank you for all you do! 💙 👏

Our hearts are with the families and loved ones affected by the tragic fire at CFB Wainwright in Alberta. 🕊️🙏
As a Catholic school community, we offer our prayers to those grieving the loss of someone they love, to those who have been injured and to the families anxiously awaiting news of their loved ones.
We know that tragedies like this touch many lives, including children, families and school communities across Canada. We are especially mindful of our own students, families and staff who may have connections to those affected.
May those who are grieving find comfort, those who are injured find healing, and all those affected find strength in the care and compassion of others.
Please join us in keeping the entire CFB Wainwright community in our thoughts and prayers. 🕯️❤️
