Elon said he's never seen a robot hand pick up a tiny screw and use a screwdriver to drive it into wood. Hey @elonmusk, allow us to introduce to you our Ability Hand 🦾

You guys said no humans allowed, so we’re just waiting for it to achieve sentience. Day 1

Tiny enough for you, @SGTZues?
He said, “tiny screw”. That’s a construction screw. 😂

This is the closest thing there is to a confirmed US military humanoid robot soldier in training. Its name is Alex and it was developed by the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) with Pentagon funding. It's in the same lineage as the Phantom MK1 from Foundation Future Industries, which acquired an earlier iteration when it bought the IHMC spinout Boardwalk Robotics in 2024. Unlike the Phantom MK1, Alex has undergone confirmed military testing. IHMC won an Office of Naval Research award August 2025 with a potential value of up to $24.8 million. Foundation has not secured any military funding independently, contrary to its previous claims. IHMC's Alex also appears to be much more advanced. Standing 179 cm (5 feet 10 inches), Alex weighs 85 kg (187 lbs) and has 29 degrees of freedom. Its movements are powered by custom-built electric motors and specialized gear systems that IHMC Robotics has spent years developing. It can travel at speeds exceeding 1.5 m/s (3.4 mph) and operates for two hours per battery charge. Alex uses a hybrid control system that allows for remote operation while AI handles certain movements and tasks independently. It's unclear how much of its performance during the tests was autonomous. It's also unknown what it uses for AI computing (correct me if I'm wrong). This footage is from September 2026 when Alex at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virgina, where it was selected as one of five winners in the US Army's xTechHumanoid competition. Nine finalists participated from 103 submissions. The Army's requirements included navigating rough terrain, identifying threats, carrying equipment, and operating alongside human soldiers.

We’re proud to have contributed to a Robotics Capability Framework alongside @Arm and the wider industry. A shared language for intelligent robotics can help the industry move forward with greater clarity and confidence.
Introducing Arm Total Design for Physical AI — bringing an inital 80+ companies together around a shared goal to accelerate physical AI from development to deployment. One of the first initiatives is a Robotics Capability Framework, creating a common language for defining increasingly intelligent and capable robotic systems. The next frontier for AI is the physical world. We’re helping the ecosystem get there faster. okt.to/dQ3xMC

🚨 Watch out, Doc Akh has returned to Comic-Con! 🚨 Our partner PSYONIC once again turned heads with its impressive “Doc Akh” suit. Inspired by Spider-Man’s iconic supervillain Doc Ock, the suit features PSYONIC Ability Hands attached to its mechanical tentacles. MANUS gloves capture the operator’s hand and finger movements, enabling the Ability Hands to reproduce them with precise, responsive motion and bringing Doc Akh’s robotic claws to life in real time. It is always exciting to see @PSYONICinc continue to push the boundaries between human movement and robotic dexterity. We are proud to see MANUS help bring this unforgettable creation to life once again. Learn more about the making of Doc Akh's suit: manus-meta.com/use-cases/psy…

How does PSYONIC’s Ability Hand turn muscle signals into movement? 🦾 Aadeel Akhtar, CEO and Founder at @PSYONICinc, explains how Arm-based compute helps coordinate sensing, motor control and touch feedback in real time, enabling the hand to respond in milliseconds. That responsiveness helps users control grip with confidence, from everyday objects to something as delicate as a raspberry. okt.to/IOqiDn
