Social media didn't just disrupt elections for the worse. @katieharbath on the upside we've forgotten, and why the goal is to amplify the good and mitigate the bad. From her Disrupting Politics launch, hosted by @SarahEHunt01 and moderated by @robsmithonline. #RaineyCenter #DisruptingPolitics

The ranked choice tabulation itself? A click of a button. As Utah County Clerk, @jaldendaniels produced RCV results on election night. The delays elsewhere come from collecting, verifying, and centralizing ballots, not from the ranked choice count. Link below 👇 #RaineyCenter #ElectionAdministration

Forget AI slop. @katieharbath is watching "AI candy": AI content we can't detect and don't mind because it's entertaining. Why that matters for politics heading into 2028, from her Disrupting Politics launch with @SarahEHunt01 and @robsmithonline. #RaineyCenter #AIandElections

Ranked choice voting doesn't cause delayed results. The tally takes seconds. Former Utah County Clerk @jaldendaniels ran Utah's first RCV elections. In our new Substack, he explains that the real bottlenecks are mail ballot windows and whether states release preliminary tallies. With Alaska and Maine's Senate races in the spotlight, faster and more transparent reporting builds trust. Link below 👇 #RaineyCenter #ElectionAdministration

What the USPS ballot mail rule does NOT do: - Decide who's eligible to vote - Make a federal citizenship list the state voter list - Have postal workers intercept completed ballots What it does: standardized envelopes and a unique barcode on ballots out and back. @jaldendaniels explains. (Not being enforced for 2026.) Watch the full video at the link in bio. #RaineyCenter #FreeAndFairElections #Midterms2026

America's elections aren't run from one office in Washington. State lawmakers set the rules, local administrators carry them out, and federal agencies support security and enforce voting rights. That spread of responsibility is a safeguard: no single administration, party, or company controls the whole process, and records can be checked at multiple levels. From @SarahEHunt01 in "Election integrity is a reason to trust America's vote." Link in bio. #RaineyCenter #FreeAndFairElections #Midterms2026

Before results are final, election officials run them through a series of checks: equipment tested before use, ballot totals reconciled with participation records, paper ballots checked against electronic counts, and post-election audits. In North Carolina, bipartisan teams hand-count randomly selected ballots after every election. In Georgia, all 159 counties took part in a risk-limiting audit in May 2024. Tracking follows the envelope. Verification checks the voter. Ballot secrecy protects the choice. They're three different jobs, and good election policy keeps them straight. A postal scan shows a ballot moving through the mail, but only election officials can confirm it was received and accepted. None of it ever reveals how someone voted. Josh Daniels explains in "Delivering Democracy Through Secure Mail Voting." Link in bio. #RaineyCenter #FreeAndFairElections #Midterms2026
