New Scum Website. - Introducing the Machinae Muerte Codex. This is the first step to showing that many of my projects over the last 4 years are actually one cohesive body of work. Not in name. Not out of convenience. But out of intentional writing and storytelling. 🔗🔻

In the context of illustration, I don't think there is any way to use AI in any stage and feel proud of the outcome. I love craft. Deeply. I have devoted 1000's of hours to it. And I am just OK. Maybe in a decade, and another 10,000 hours I can resemble something great. And the work necessary to get there will have been worth it. And only after I've worked to gain the ability to draw at the level I want, will I be able to tell the stories I had spent that decade developing on the page. Using gen AI in place of your inner filter (muse) is robbing you of the experience of making something you didn't know you had in you. And making it in a way only you can. I have recently taken some Character Design for gaming classes and I got insight on how Gen AI is used. Generally, even there, they are not using it to prototype. They are using tools that can take context and create character turnarounds (orthographics). In that regard, knowing how tedious that can be, and knowing that you just need to get your complete idea to the sculptor ASAP. And you'll need to adjust whatever that output is...it starts to make sense. But again, ONLY in a capitalistic context. I have seen other artists doing interesting collage, developing strangely beautiful images (aesthetically). But again. These people, in my opinion, are robbing themselves of the joy of toiling. And art isn't JUST about aesthetics. In fact I would argue they are opposing forces. Aesthetics are crowd-sourced, pre approved and often memetic (trendy). Aesthetics fit frameworks. Aesthetics are definable. Art at it's core should be experienced, felt and most of all it should have stakes. Welp that's a wall of text.

100 feet and 100 hands Fountain pen only. (Find me on Feet Finder, OnlyFeet and Plenty of Feet) Arms next.
100 hands. Fountain pen. No pencils. Feet next. Then arms, legs, torsos and heads. Saw this in @AT9monkeys GOBACK sketchbook and it inspired me to try it. Anything to get better.

Inking some Akira fan art. I'm doing a short series of covers of books that influenced me most on my journey. As of now this series is just for me to hang in my office/studio. The goal is to practice three things: 1 )Large scale pieces on 11x17 bristol board that is the standard for comics. As I plan to do my comics traditionally, I want to get comfortable with the scale. 2 ) Working with dip pens and brushes for line variation and line economy. These tools are also standard for manga and comics and I want to have a grasp on how they perform over time, how to work clean and how they might deteriorate over time. 3 ) Refining my traditional inks -> digital color workflow. I find that my line work and decisions are so much more...romantic (?) with traditional mediums. There's no second chances and each stroke is a conscious decision. I still tap the page with two fingers, but instead of frustration, I smile. Smile at those small 'errors' that give a finished piece the life my digital work had been missing. Lastly, and less important to this audience, I am filming the process to begin building a following on other platforms more intentionally. I've grown a lot in this space. And while this is still home to me, I find that the space has largely moved on from artists. I am more passionate now than ever before and I know that I need to build an audience of like-minded people SOMEWHERE if I am to ever share my stories when they are finally complete. Thanks for reading if your read this.

When @siriuscrocodile opens on his own Museum of Sirius Art, he is taking on the art establishment. Hence he's taking on Michaelangelo's 'David' in the piece I made for him.
