. @ESA_Euclid discovers its first comet ☄️ That's quite impressive for a #DarkUniverse detective 🕵️ meant to take deep, steady images of distant galaxies, not fast-moving tiny objects. Discover more about the comet 👉 esa.int/Science_Exploration/…

I want to say this is diabolical but its been happening in schools for years. Science teachers are in short supply so any teacher will do...
Goldsmiths has spent £14m on consultants since 2019. Now it's replacing striking lecturers with staff who need only "an interest in teaching". Joe Newman, Goldsmiths UCU co-president, on management's strike-breaking. 📰 @novaramedia

How long til we get ready mix on Mars?
Pure sulfur discovered on Mars, making Martian concrete possible 10 years ago, the recipe for making effective concrete with Martian sand was discovered. The key ingredient: molten elemental sulfur. Guess what the Curiosity rover just found? bigthink.com/starts-with-a-b…

Who do we have bets on?
Physics laureates Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz have explored our home galaxy, the Milky Way, looking for unknown worlds. In 1995, they made the very first discovery of a planet outside our solar system, an exoplanet, orbiting a solar-type star, 51 Pegasi. Soon we will announce the 2026 physics laureate(s) – stay with us for the breaking news.

Imagine seeing a blue whale flying at Mach 25 and complaining that sparrows fly more reliably 😳
I'm sorry, I'm really not. Not impressed @SpaceX Starship deployed Satellites. Did not complete whole planned mission. Engines failed. Others including F9 make Satellite deployment routine. What breakthough came out of flight 14 which no one else previosuly performed?

Amazing
We're used to seeing drones capture insane rocket footage, but using an entire swarm to recreate the Zhuque-3 launch and landing in the night sky? That’s on another level.

The Lux-Zeplin experiment is a dark matter detector that looks for low energy collisions with nuclei in their 7 tonnes liquid xenon tank. Recently they report findings that could be the first detection of our elusive particle. Full video on my youtube channel

A historic night for European spaceflight. Huge congratulations to @danielmetzler and the entire @isaraerospace team on reaching orbit with Spectrum 🚀 from continental Europe. Spectrum quite literally rose to the challenge and delivered its payloads in low Earth orbit. An astounding achievement by German company Isar, founded only eight years ago. This is exactly the kind of ambition and commercial dynamism Europe needs. Commercialisation has been at the heart of ESA’s strategy, and the European Launcher Challenge is that strategy put into action following the 2023 Seville Summit. ESA will continue supporting Isar and Europe’s other new launch providers as they move from demonstration to reliable operations and scale. There is still a long road ahead, but this is a major milestone. Congratulations, Daniel and team. Europe is accelerating! Onward and upward! 🚀 esa.int/Enabling_Support/Spa…
