QOTD | "There's no such thing as a would-be writer. If you want to be an airline pilot, you've got to pass those exams. If you want to write, you can do it right now. It doesn't mean it'll be brilliant or that anyone will like it. But you could do it." - Mark Gatiss
So happy to be a part of this! Exciting times ahead
Script Lab 2025 is officially in session! Our brand-new cohort of emerging screenwriters have kicked things off with their first workshop – meet the talented group below! 🎞️📝 bit.ly/4o4TTJS
Been so honoured to be a part of this. I've worked with so many great people and had an amazing time with this cohort. Definitely a career highlight!
All this week we're introducing the writers who have taken part in our Voices 2025 development scheme.
Today the focus is on the twelve writers from our hub in the Midlands and North of England. We know that this talented bunch will go on to tell fresh and distinctive stories and we can’t wait to watch them embark on their next steps as writers! Find out more about them all over on our blog >>>bbc.co.uk/writers/blog/voice…
I never thought WhatsApp were reading my messages, until they released an advert assuring us they didn't read our messages!

No idea what's going on with my hand in this photo, as it was taken in 2019.
BUT, @bbcwritersroom asked me to have a go at writing about rejection following this weeks Open Call emails being sent out.
Unfortunately being a writer means dealing with rejection.
Yesterday we sent out the results from our latest Open Call opportunity. Whilst the vast majority of responses (although often disappointed) were positive, there were a minority of abusive and unpleasant replies.
We asked Paul Hunt @saulhuntman an alumnus of our Scripted Writer Development programme to sum up his experience of dealing with multiple rejections before gaining a place in the group. Read his blog post now, including some great advice >>> bbc.co.uk/writers/blog/deali…
Seeing this tonight. Can't wait!
Not only has our current production #DogsOnTheMetro been getting ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ reviews - audiences are also loving it!!!!! Check out the video to see what they have to say about this powerful production & then book your tickets asap before it ends next Sat 17 May at live.org.uk/whats-on/dogs-on…

Calling out @thequentinletts @TheDailyMail_Pk for bullying. Is Quentin unable or unwilling to challenge the science behind the evidence? Or is he just a nasty bully, happy to mock how people talk? @stammer

ALT A very youthful picture of Quentin Letts above text extracted from his Daily Mail piece. This reads "Professor Forster had a marked stammer. We're not talking an occasional Ed Balls-style hesitation on some words. It was a full Fish Called Wanda job. Naturally one doffs one's cap to a chap who battles on through such an impediment but it quite unbalanced the meeting as an exercise in democratic scrutiny. Prof Forster was jolly difficult to understand.
We specifically went to that London to see this and it was amazing! If it's going on tour we may go again
Thanks to everybody who has seen #Insideno9 Stage/Fright at the Wyndham’s Theatre. Unfortunately this is our final week. FORTUNATELY we are doing a tour in the autumn! Tickets on sale from tomorrow at midday GMT. insideno9onstage.com/#tour
I loved every second of this!

Went on @bbcnewsnight to talk about the finale of Big Boys and why talking about suicide can help prevent it.
Out Thursday evening I believe 👍
“It’s not even sometimes about saying ‘it gets better’. Sometimes it’s about saying ‘wait, it will be different.’”
Writer and Big Boys creator Jack Rooke speaks to #Newsnight about bereavement and feelings of “injustice”.
