The re-platforming of dangerous insurectionists and transphobic bigots is my last straw for twitter. I will leave my account active for some time and respond to mentions and messages. I hope to connect with everyone here elsewhere. until then, youtube.com/watch?v=NLeSi1IZ…
this week has been so happy and festive

I am not Active here anymore. I advise if you lurk here, you block ads and never engage with sponsernd content. Also follow me on mastodon while you still can.
Twitter is currently mass-banning accounts that go against it and Elon Musk’s interests, including journalists who cover him/the company, Mastodon, leftist accounts, and more

Despite all the grand adventure, THE LORD OF THE RINGS is an elegy. The ideal time to read it is when middle-aged or older. If you only read it while young, I urge you to return to it when your hair is gray and the road is getting short. It's a deeper and better experience.

I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?" As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.

this might sound cynical but i’ve always wondered why no billionaire has singlehandedly funded the halting/reversal of climate change solely for the sake of satisfying their narcissism by being able to say they literally saved the entire human race

settings -> your account -> download archive (they send you a PIN through email to verify) i think it takes a while to compile your data, so it's not an instant download (it'll show up in your email eventually)

I just randomly remembered a chunk of my childhood. How many of you read the Dragonriders of Pern series? I used to read them at school. It was a weird pseudo-fantasy book where they're settlers of another planet, but their technology was destroyed and there were alien dragons.

3/ The FCC just announced they are investigating. They have power to fine Twitter billions. Add this to historical pattern of @elonmusk endangering the public by unleashing a half-baked autopilot on public streets without basic technology, and one concludes he feels invincible.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The tweet references FCC but news is referring to possible investigations by FTC and CFIUS. And previous fines came from FTC. FCC= Federal Communications Commission. FTC= Federal Trade Commission. The author likely means FTC
