Nine years ago Emma Thompson spoke to @maitlis for #Newsnight on the predator de jour Weinstein. Me Too was supposed to be the watershed.
We know how that turned out.
This week female execs have gone from Warner Bros, Netflix & Paramount.
It wasn’t just Weinstein, it wasn’t just Brand, it isn’t just Gisele Pelicot.
It’s systemic misogyny.

The final sequence in PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES (1987) turns Del’s endless chatter into something heartbreaking. Neal finally understands why Del has been clinging to him, and John Candy’s quiet admission that he has nowhere to go says everything.

Bono (U2) reveals Dolly Parton sent him an emotional note quoting "I Will Always Love You" after recording her final vocal performance
Bono (U2): "She sends this quite emotional note having finished the vocal, and she says, 'I just so you know, I've always loved your music. I've always loved you, and I will always love you.'"
Bono (U2): "I could feel a puddle about to happen. Then it's, she's taking the piss! Because that's her song title, I will always love you."
Adam Clayton (U2): "It's transpired that was her last vocal performance. It was her song originally, so it's quite a closing statement from her to make."
