🛑 Texas Builder Fences Off His Job Sites to Keep ICE Away From His Workers 🛑 A construction company owner in South Texas's Rio Grande Valley is putting up fences around his job sites so ICE agents can't get to his workers. This is what happens when Trump's federal government refuses to indict owners for hiring illegal aliens. Benny Melendez owns BM3 Construction and runs government relations for the South Texas Builders Association. He told the Wall Street Journal the fence has nothing to do with theft: "I'm not afraid that someone's going to steal my materials, no. I'm afraid that ICE agents are going to steal my workers." He's not alone. NBC News found other Valley builders using padlocked gates, codes changed weekly and hired security. Builders say agents told them that if the public can't get onto a private site, agents won't either. More than 9,000 people have been arrested in ICE operations across the Valley in recent months, according to the Observer. Melendez says homes that used to take about four months now take eight or nine. The law is already on the books. Under 8 U.S.C. 1324a, it's illegal to knowingly hire, or keep employing, an alien who isn't authorized to work. Employers face fines, and a pattern or practice of it brings criminal charges. Border czar Tom Homan says his plan to go after employers who hire illegal aliens has cleared Homeland Security Investigations and is waiting on DHS sign-off. Waiting isn't enforcement. Unless @POTUS directs DHS and the DOJ to indict these business owners, it seems to me they don't want mass deportations. Should employers who hire illegal aliens face prison time?

Maura Healey @MassGovernor holding a commanding 25-point lead over Republican challenger Mike Minogue @mikeminoguema in the 2026 gubernatorial race (57% to 32%, with independent Andrea James at 6%).⁠ Healey’s advantage is driven largely by a wide gender gap (66–24 among women versus 47–42 among men), strong support among college-educated voters, and a 58% job-approval rating—her highest since February 2025—while voters trust her over Minogue by 20–30 points on key issues including abortion, education, health care, immigration, and crime.⁠ Minogue faces a major obstacle in that more than 80% of voters view him as similar to President Donald Trump on issues such as abortion, immigration, health care, taxes, and transgender rights, and the words most frequently associated with him include “MAGA,” “Republican,” and “Unknown.”⁠ In the U.S. Senate race, incumbent Democrat Ed Markey @SenMarkey leads Republican John Deaton @JohnEDeaton1 by more than 25 points (roughly 56–29), and Democrats hold large leads in other statewide contests.
