This is a mindset of a lot of people who went through the public housing to middle class pipeline. Completely goes over their head that certain policies and laws were created to spearhead that upward mobility that otherwise wasn’t possible.

Ooooooooh idk if people are ready to hear (from me at least) about Black immigrants needing to culturally assimilate for social survival in Black spaces based on this exact thing. I was always connected to Black culture(s), but it not being BA absolutely changed things.

Keep in mind I went to a predominantly Haitian school. People who were trying to assimilate judging how well I could. Same exact experience in college as well. And it was always off-putting because it goes past being strict. It’s being ostracized and isolated.
