⚠️SNEAKY NEW SCAM TACTIC⚠️
I recently came across a social engineering tactic that flips one of the most common trust checks on its head....
Here's how it works:
1.) The attacker creates two fake identities mimicking two profiles.
2.) They message both victims profiles separately.
3.) They ask each profile to send a "random" code, like "2285" to the other on X to "prove" they're legitimate (Since the scammer messages on Telegram first).
4.) Since the scammer controls both conversations, each victim receives the expected code...
Both people leave convinced they're talking to the real person...
The attacker manufactured the trust.
Cross-platform verification is still valuable, but only if you already know you're contacting the correct account through a trusted source..
Otherwise, you're just verifying two accounts the attacker controls 👀
