Shooter (2016-18) was a reasonably entertaining adaptation of the Bob Lee Swagger character onto the small screen. Gun nerds will enjoy the gun handling and variety of hardware, especially the 1911s seen in the hands of Bob Lee and Julie Swagger. The old school cool of a spur hammer 1911 is hard to beat...at least until you have to shoot it for extended periods. Shooter is still available on Prime Video.
The 2004 Punisher starring Thomas Jane is probably my favorite of the big screen adaptations, and it certainly doesn't hurt that he's wielding a pair of custom 1911s in it. The 2nd pic shows the screen used blank guns, while 3rd pic is of the foam stunt guns. The guns were built on big letter Colt 1991A1's with bushing comps. I might actually have a similar bushing comp in the shop somewhere....
This authentic recreation of the Lebman "Room Broom" used by the Dillinger Gang and Baby Face Nelson, created by @issweapons, was used in the 2009 Michael Mann directed movie, Public Enemy. Note that director Mann insisted on 100% authenticity, to include having the prop gun built on a .38 Super despite a .45 or 9mm being easier to source and run with blanks. I also have the distinction of possibly being the only person to have handled both the original gun (during my old job) and this replica.
This reconfigured Gen4 Glock 17 has quickly become one of my favorite pistols, I recently installed a Magpul mag well, which was the last piece of the puzzle, greatly aiding reloads into the very square frame opening. It does take it out of play for USPSA Carry Optics, but I am instead using this for training and EDC.

From the 10-8 vault: a set of new in wrapper Devel 1911 magazines, circa 1985. As a young IPSC shooter during that time, the introduction of the 8rd magazine was a big deal. It might be hard to fathom now, but that was a huge advantage if everyone else was running 7+1 and you had an extra round for makeup or a slide forward reload. When Devel Corp went out of business, Chip McCormick bought the patent for the folded follower and sold it as the Shooting Star, still in production to this day.
Who's watching @JackCarrUSA @TerminalListPV Season 2? I just finished a repeat listen of the audiobook, as narrated by the incomparable @the.ray.porter and completed the season at the same time. I found them to be good companion pieces, with the show deviating from the book just enough to keep me guessing and tense the whole time. I know Raife was using a traditional 1911, but if he went with a modern 1911 I think he would need a @springfieldarmoryinc @lipseysguns 10-8.
I first tried a sample of the _@povnutrition electrolyte/nootropic blend at the Area 6 USPSA match, where they were a title sponsor. I was impressed by the clean ingredients and flavor of the sample, as well as the replenishing effect after a long hot day at the match. Fast forward and they are now my favorite electrolyte and a key part of my daily hydration plan. I have no affiliation with the company, but wanted to support a good product that supports our sport. Check them out!
Thought we could start the week off with my Echo-2 build and @rmj_usa Ragnarok. This build languished in my safe for over a decade before I finished it a few years ago. It features every 10-8 1911 part as well as the abbreviated serrations that are now featured on my 10-8 Masterclass pistol from @springfieldarmoryinc @lipseysguns.
The 10-8 Performance Armorer Tool was originally designed for working on 1911's, but has plenty of handy uses on the bench. I've been doing a lot of tinkering on Glocks lately, and the non marring nylon tool is great for working on polymer pistols without leaving dings and scratches all over the parts. Thumb shield safeties on 2011's are gaining some popularity of late, but they are not a new development. Back in the 80's, famous rubber grip manufacturer Pachmayr offered a "Thumb Slide Guard" that you could bolt onto your gun, and Swenson also offered a very early production thumb shield version of his now legendary ambi safety. Riding high thumb on a 1911/2011 that is lightly sprung and running lower impulse loads, it is easy to interfere with the slide cycling. A thumb shield resolves this.
