Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. Love this!
If you watch one thing today, make it Giannis Antetokounmpo's response to a question on failure.

We don’t ask pediatricians if they’re gonna “climb the ladder” into geriatrics, so why do we ask high school athletic trainers when they’re going to “level up” into college/pro sports?
Athletes are athletes and they all deserve healthcare. There shouldn’t be a hierarchy.

The smallest comments can have a lasting effect. Even if athletes are supposed to be “mentally tough” & all that fun stuff…we are still humans too. Don’t be so quick to ridicule if you aren’t out on the field with us.

People wonder “Why are Student Athletes struggling?” It’s a list of things. But imagine reading half the stuff on social media or in articles about how “that player is the reason we lost”or “didn’t perform well”. As athletes, we are already our own biggest critics. Be respectful.

I have been meeting with members of Congress in D.C this week to advocate for additional mental health resources on all campuses.

Recognizing someone struggling with mental health issues isn’t a straightforward science. If you notice someone is having a rough day, reach out with a text or phone call letting them know how much they mean to you. #YouareNOTalone

My job is not to take kids off the field, it’s to keep them on it SAFELY. If it’s possible for my athletes to play through an injury relatively safely we’ll find a way together. If I do pull a kid I did it because I’m concerned for their long-term health and you should be too.

Multi-Sport Participation
NOT
Single Sport Specialization
Multiple studies have shown that playing multiple sports does not inhibit progression to elite levels of sport and also reduces significant overuse injury and burnout rates.
