It’s Labor Day in the United States today. My grandfather’s union job cutting paper in Red Hook gave my mom the opportunity to stay in school. Here’s a picture of his union card that I keep close.
I've never reposted anything before, but I'm reposting this.
You can't get two people further apart on the ideological continuum than @BobRae48 and Brian Mulroney.
The next time you want to show someone what class and grace look like, show them this.
When my brother died, Brian Mulroney was the first political leader to call, as he was when I was elected Premier in 1990, when I was defeated, and at so many other moments. He was my friend, despite our differences. Love from me and Arlene @aprae to Mila and the family. Amitiés a un homme remarquable qui a contribué vivement a la vie publique du Canada. Je t’embrasse mon ami et j’aurai toujours des mémoires de notre amitié et notre dévotion partagée a notre cher pays, le Canada
Walking home from work today, the sight and smell of smoke filling the City hit me with a wave of anxiety. I was confused about why I was so anxious until I took this picture—and remembered the exact same sight, and the burning smell, after 9-11.

My Dad always loved Northern art; this beautiful Harrison hung in my childhood bedroom in the ‘80s. After more than 20 years and three apartments, I finally had this piece re-framed and hung in my home for my children to see.

I took my six-year-old son to early voting. We waited on line for three hours. He was great! Talking to everyone around about how excited he was to vote. Asking a million questions about voting.
A reminder that democracy is a very special thing.
