💊 Photomontage pioneer Jerry Uelsmann dies in Florida . Uelsmann received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1967 and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in 1972. He was a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, a founding member of The Society of Photographic Education, and a former trustee of the Friends of Photography. His work has been exhibited in more than 100 individual shows, and his photographs are in the permanent collections of many major museums. This guy created a blueprint for controlling the DUI stop and not getting his rights trampled on.
Heading home after a grueling 14-hour workday, a motorist rolled up to a massive Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) DUI checkpoint set up near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd and West Cheyenne Ave in North Las Vegas.
Instead of caving to roadside intimidation, he demonstrated exactly how the Constitution protects everyday citizens during suspicionless administrative stops.
When he pulled up with his window rolled down just a couple of inches, plenty to communicate clearly, he set the tone showing he was in control.
The initial trooper started his questions asking where he was coming from. The driver answered honestly: work. But the moment the trooper asked whether he had consumed any alcohol, the driver calmly drew the line: "I don't answer questions."
Rather than looking for actual indicators of intoxication, the trooper immediately escalated, ordering the man out of his vehicle simply for refusing to engage in casual interrogation.
The driver stood his ground with a straightforward question: "Did I commit a crime?"
When an NHP supervisor, Sergeant Cook, stepped in, the pressure mounted. Sgt. Cook attempted to argue that by choosing not to bypass the checkpoint signs, the driver was legally obligated to submit to questioning, even asserting the driver was detained under suspicion of DUI purely because he entered the lane.
The driver didn’t raise his voice or get combative. Instead, he systematically dismantled their demands with case law, citing the landmark 1990 Supreme Court ruling in Michigan Dept. of State Police v. Sitz. While Sitz allows brief, suspicionless checkpoints to check for obvious signs of impairment, it does not strip motorists of their Fifth Amendment right to remain silent or their Fourth Amendment protections against unreasonable searches and seizures.
Exercising your right to silence or cracking your window two inches is not reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime.
When asked for identification, the driver complied immediately, handing over his driver’s license. He also responsibly and calmly informed the sergeant that he was carrying a lawfully concealed firearm on his hip.
He remained composed, polite, and unyielding on his fundamental liberties.
Realizing they had zero physical evidence of impairment, no odor of alcohol, no slurred speech, no bloodshot eyes, Sgt. Cook turned to the initial trooper and asked the defining question: "Do you have anything on this young man?"
The trooper had nothing. With no legal justification to prolong the stop, the officers handed back his license and let him drive off without a ticket or further harassment.
Knowing the law is your greatest defense. When you stand on principle calmly, factually, and without hostility, you hold law enforcement accountable to the very Constitution they swore to uphold.

Banking collapse 😮💨
Indonesia’s banking sector is under ATTACK.
Indonesian banks and financial firms faced roughly 214,000 cyber threats in just 24 hours.
FortiGuard Labs recorded about 350,600 threat detections across Indonesia in the 24 hours to November 7, averaging four per second nationwide.
Banks, insurers and other financial firms accounted for 61% of the total, more than all other sectors combined.
The figures show how often attackers targeted the sector. No bank breach was confirmed by the data.
In neighbouring Malaysia, attackers defaced Bank Rakyat’s externally managed website on Friday night.
Officials said banking systems remained secure and reported no data theft.
