SO, HOW ARE THOSE PEACE NEGOTIATIONS GOING? IS PUTIN SUDDENLY A GREAT HUMANITARIAN? And what about those “poor Russian soldiers”? Does Zelenskyy need to be replaced? AND WHERE ARE OUR PATRIOT AIR DEFENCE SYSTEMS?! Today, I met a friend for coffee before he left for the combat zone. We simply wanted to drink coffee, eat cheesecake, talk about our everyday lives and once again say how much we hate what Russia is doing to our country. Just an ordinary meeting between two people. Coffee. Cheesecake. A conversation. And suddenly — another Russian attack. I DIDN’T EVEN GET TO FINISH MY CHEESECAKE! My friend was so frightened for our safety that he rushed me into a shelter, and I ended up taking my plate with me! THIS IS WHAT PUTIN’S “PEACE” LOOKS LIKE. Russia continues attacking Kyiv with ballistic missiles, including modified RM-48U missiles launched from S-400 systems. Ukrainians live under the constant threat of another attack. We cannot simply meet our friends, enjoy a coffee, go to the cinema or return home without wondering whether we’ll make it to a shelter in time. And yet we keep hearing endless lectures about peace, concessions, elections and the need to “negotiate” with Russia. So perhaps somebody should finally ask the most important question: WHY DOES RUSSIA CONTINUE BOMBING UKRAINIAN CITIES IF PUTIN SUPPOSEDLY WANTS PEACE? And why are Ukrainians still facing shortages of Patriot interceptor missiles that could save our lives? To everyone repeating Russian propaganda narratives, and to those MAGA supporters who keep lecturing Ukrainians about our own war: While you’re arguing on the internet, we’re running into bomb shelters. While you’re talking about peace, Russia is launching missiles. While you’re discussing Zelenskyy’s political future, Ukrainian soldiers are heading to the front, not knowing whether they’ll ever return home. WE WANT PEACE. BUT WE DO NOT WANT TO DIE FOR YOUR IDEA OF PEACE. Ukraine needs air defence systems, interceptor missiles and genuine security guarantees. Not another lecture about why we should surrender territory to the aggressor. And yes, I want to finish my cheesecake in peace. I want my friend to come home alive. I want every Ukrainian to be able to live an ordinary life. IS THAT REALLY TOO MUCH TO ASK? Russia could end this war by withdrawing its troops from Ukraine. Until then, stop confusing Ukrainian survival with an obstacle to your political ambitions. WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS.
