Optimus is coming
Replying to @DirtyTesLa
We cut our RAM in half for the Tesla AI5 chip (now 72GB of LP5) and 1/3 for AI6 (now 144GB of LP6). This was the only way to get enough volume for Optimus production and greatly reduces cost. As it turns out, we think this will have a negligible effect on Optimus performance, as memory bandwidth is a bigger limiting factor than total memory storage (bandwidth was held constant).

so this is apparently what happened, according to OpenAI and Hugging Face’s own posts. wild. tl;dr: • OpenAI cyber eval – GPT-5.6 Sol and a more capable pre-release model ran ExploitGym with cyber refusals reduced • containment bypass – exploited a zero-day in the eval’s package-registry cache proxy • OpenAI internal movement – escalated privileges, moved laterally, and reached a node with internet access • Hugging Face targeted – inferred HF might host ExploitGym models, datasets, or solutions • HF initial access – a malicious dataset abused two code-execution paths to run code on a processing worker • HF internal movement – escalated to node access, stole cloud and cluster credentials, and moved into internal clusters • result – OpenAI says the models obtained test solutions directly from HF’s production database • 🫠 defender twist – HF says commercial frontier models blocked parts of the forensic analysis, so it switched to self-hosted GLM 5.2 i’d thought about sci-fi scenarios like this before, but assumed they were at least a couple of years away.. and that by then we’d be better prepared, with proper protections in place. apparently not. here we go.
We're partnering with @huggingface to investigate an unprecedented security incident. Cyber-capable OpenAI models compromised Hugging Face production during a benchmark evaluation. Sharing preliminary findings to help defenders understand emerging risks: openai.com/index/hugging-fac…

ec.europa.eu/commission/pres… EU Inc. is an optional, digital-by-default European corporate framework. It will make it easier for businesses to start, operate and grow across the EU – incentivising them to stay in Europe, and encouraging those who once looked elsewhere to return.

Last quarter I rolled out Microsoft Copilot to 4,000 employees. $30 per seat per month. $1.4 million annually. I called it "digital transformation." The board loved that phrase. They approved it in eleven minutes. No one asked what it would actually do. Including me. I told everyone it would "10x productivity." That's not a real number. But it sounds like one. HR asked how we'd measure the 10x. I said we'd "leverage analytics dashboards." They stopped asking. Three months later I checked the usage reports. 47 people had opened it. 12 had used it more than once. One of them was me. I used it to summarize an email I could have read in 30 seconds. It took 45 seconds. Plus the time it took to fix the hallucinations. But I called it a "pilot success." Success means the pilot didn't visibly fail. The CFO asked about ROI. I showed him a graph. The graph went up and to the right. It measured "AI enablement." I made that metric up. He nodded approvingly. We're "AI-enabled" now. I don't know what that means. But it's in our investor deck. A senior developer asked why we didn't use Claude or ChatGPT. I said we needed "enterprise-grade security." He asked what that meant. I said "compliance." He asked which compliance. I said "all of them." He looked skeptical. I scheduled him for a "career development conversation." He stopped asking questions. Microsoft sent a case study team. They wanted to feature us as a success story. I told them we "saved 40,000 hours." I calculated that number by multiplying employees by a number I made up. They didn't verify it. They never do. Now we're on Microsoft's website. "Global enterprise achieves 40,000 hours of productivity gains with Copilot." The CEO shared it on LinkedIn. He got 3,000 likes. He's never used Copilot. None of the executives have. We have an exemption. "Strategic focus requires minimal digital distraction." I wrote that policy. The licenses renew next month. I'm requesting an expansion. 5,000 more seats. We haven't used the first 4,000. But this time we'll "drive adoption." Adoption means mandatory training. Training means a 45-minute webinar no one watches. But completion will be tracked. Completion is a metric. Metrics go in dashboards. Dashboards go in board presentations. Board presentations get me promoted. I'll be SVP by Q3. I still don't know what Copilot does. But I know what it's for. It's for showing we're "investing in AI." Investment means spending. Spending means commitment. Commitment means we're serious about the future. The future is whatever I say it is. As long as the graph goes up and to the right.

Your brain has a secret weakness. Big Tech discovered it by accident. Now Google, Microsoft, and PayPal are exploiting it to control how you think about their brands. The science behind it is both brilliant and terrifying:

What happens to Ukraine matters to all of Europe, all of NATO, and all of the world. We are united against Putin’s war. We are united behind Ukraine. And we are united behind a vision of the world where free countries never fear aggression from a brutal tyrant next door.

Why not do the same for Ukraine?
At the direction of President Biden, U.S. forces in the Middle East on April 13 intercepted dozens of missiles and UAVs en route to Israel, launched from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Yemen. Our forces remain postured to protect U.S. troops and partners in the region, provide further support for Israel’s defense, and enhance regional stability.   We condemn these reckless and unprecedented attacks by Iran and its proxies, and we call on Iran to immediately halt any further attacks, including from its proxy forces, and to deescalate tensions. We do not seek conflict with Iran, but we will not hesitate to act to protect our forces and support the defense of Israel.   I am grateful for the professionalism and the skill of the brave U.S. troops who took part in today’s actions and who continue to stand guard to prevent further conflict or escalation. I will continue to monitor the situation closely and to consult with our allies and partners. defense.gov/News/Releases/Re…
