I wonder how many players are regretting their big money move after their team’s performance today… and how many more teams are regretting offering same player so much money to play for them.
2nd XI keeper suggested his dropped catches were due to the pink ball… apparently it was unnecessary for me to remind him he couldn’t catch a red ball last season either….
Freezing conditions for first match of @staffsclubcrick season. Great to be back out there.
Thanks to all groundsman, umpires, scorers across @StaffsCricket for your vital contribution for club cricket in 2025.
Look forward to post game drinks at the 2nd XI HQ with you all.
The cricket season is officially back: 50 overs spent freezing in the field, a couple dropped off my bowling and out for a first-baller.
But still can’t wait for next week.
Time to get cricket HQ ready for the season. 1st XI players this weekend does include you as well….
Can you believe it - this time next week!!
Good luck to all Clubs taking part....ENJOY and repost your pics using #GetSetWeekend

Apparently asking if the changing room could be emptied to make room for changing room cricket was unacceptable.
Faced last two balls of innings today…hit my first ball for a 4, second for a huge 6. Our new opening bat didn’t massively appreciate me asking how he made batting look so difficult out there.
Although in fairness it is the 1st time the 1st XI have won their first game of the season since the @StaffsCricket Virtual Cricket County Cup in 2020…
In a rare occurrence both the 1st XI and 2nd XI managed to win today… just a shame social media doesn’t seem to mention the 2nd XI but are proudly announcing that the 1st XI are top of the league.
Seems like most places will have a delayed start if we manage to get any play in at all… remember changing room cricket is just as important as league cricket…
Remember no self-respecting bowler needs to rely on a Mankad to take a wicket.
Don’t be that person….

Prior to the first day tomorrow: good luck to players/umpires/scorers in the @staffsclubcrick, @nsscpcl and @BDPCL_Official for the 2023 season #CricketFamily
We look forward to seeing you down at the 2nd XI HQ throughout the season.
@StaffsCricket
Seems like once again the 1st XI didn’t think their presence was required at the #GetSetWeekend.
Get involved and help spread the word…
The programmes are a great opportunity to hopefully strengthen the 2nd XI towards the end of the season…
👀 Coming to a school near you….we can’t wait for girls and boys (aged 5-11) to find out about the exciting #AllStarsCricket & #DynamosCricket programmes!!! 🏏

Seems as if the senior players need to step up and remind the youngsters it’s their job to retrieve the ball from the large expanse of field with a waft of the hand in the general direction….
