This is one of the greatest harms being done to our country, and I don’t think most people realize it.
We’ve distorted the very meaning of accountability.
Accountability is NOT retribution. It means taking responsibility for the decisions you make when entrusted with power and accepting the consequences that naturally follow those decisions.
We cannot continue this cycle of disregarding the rule of law and expecting to get away with it simply by dismissing accountability as political retaliation.
Accountability is not a political weapon. It is a fundamental part of a healthy democracy.
