Ronaldo lost his father and still chose to remain at the Portuguese camp. He survived a life-threatening car crash and went straight back to training. He lost his child and still found the strength to step onto the pitch for Manchester United. The world mocked him after Portugal’s World Cup exit, yet he returned to represent his country at the next World Cup. I watched him win the Champions League back to back to back. I watched him crash out of the World Cup in tears. Somehow, through all those moments, he took me along on his journey through life. He taught me, time and time again, that it’s never okay to give up. He makes you appreciate both the highs and the lows. He reminds you that it’s okay to cry, it’s okay to be angry, it’s okay to be sad, but it’s never okay to give up. I remember the last trophy he won with Portugal, the Nations League. When almost every odd was against him, he found a way to rise again. He reminded me, one more time, of exactly who he was. He lives life on his own terms and accepts the consequences of his decisions with his full chest. He speaks his mind, whether you agree with him or not. He walks away when he feels disrespected. He stands firm on his principles, believes in fair competition and remains loyal to those who have shown him loyalty. He came from nothing and built a legacy that will outlive him. Heavily misunderstood, but never doubted. He has been called a narcissist, an egotist and everything in between, but never a cheat. Everything he has achieved, he has earned. Every record, every trophy, every accolade. He did it on the pitch. β€œRonaldo is old. He needs to retire.” β€œHe’s slowing the team down.” β€œHis goals are hurting the team.” And so much more. The very metrics used to celebrate others are often the same ones used to discredit him. But perhaps that’s understandable. The umbrella becomes a burden when it stops raining. That’s the legacy of this man. What I feel for Ronaldo goes far beyond football. He embodies what a role model should be. Strip away the goals, the awards, the records and the trophies, and there will still be something worth admiring. I have watched the highs, the lows, the tears, the celebrations, the criticism and the comebacks. Through it all, he has reminded me that greatness isn’t just about how high you rise, but how many times you find the strength to rise again. Thank you for being part of my story. Thank you for the memories, the lessons and for showing me what resilience looks like. That’s why he is my number one. The greatest there is, the greatest there was, and the greatest there will ever be. In this life and the next. Always. β€οΈπŸπŸ‘‘

This is Ronaldo in the video, and the second image is from a training session he recently posted. Where is the line? Also, compare his wedding picture with the haircut he has in this video. You can clearly tell they’re the same, which gives us an idea of the timeframe in which Ronaldo made this video.
If you watch Ronaldo's haircut we'll you can clearly tell this video was made right after the world cup. THIS IS NOT A CURRENT VIDEO.

Go to any football pitch in the world this evening. A dusty field in Lagos. A beach in Rio. A cage pitch in London. A narrow street in Cairo, Jakarta or Lima, with two stones and/or a stack of blocks for goalposts Wait for a free kick. You will probably see a boy step back, plant his feet wide apart, puff out his chest, take a deep breath and stare at the ball like it owes him money. You know exactly who he is copying. Cristiano Ronaldo retired from international football today. 23 years with Portugal. 146 goals in 234 games, more than any man in history. And I promise you, that boy on the street doesn't know half of those numbers. He doesn't need to. He knows the stance. He knows the "Siuuu." He knows the man. That's enough. That is what I want to talk about today. Not what Ronaldo did for Portugal. What he did for the boy watching from thousands of kilometres away. Think about it. Some of the people reading this were children when Ronaldo made his Portugal debut in 2003. Some weren't even born. For an entire generation, he has always been there. Every summer tournament, every big night, every argument about who is the greatest. Football without Ronaldo is something millions of fans have simply never known. Every young player knows the story by now. The skinny boy from Madeira, laughed at for his accent in Lisbon. The boy who stayed behind after training. The one who did sit-ups in his room at night. The ice baths, the diet, the gym when everyone else had gone home. Whether every detail of that story is true or not, the lesson landed in every corner of the world: talent alone is not enough. You have to outwork everybody. And he kept proving it. He was still scoring for his country at 40, still winning a Nations League final at 40. Players are supposed to fade by 33. He made "old" look like a choice. It went beyond the pitch too. A generation learned from him that a footballer can be a brand. That your body is your business. That how you speak, how you dress and how you carry yourself matters as much as your first touch. He became the first person in the world to reach one billion followers across social media. One billion. That is not a fanbase. That is a planet. Now, let me be honest with you. Not every boy copying the free kick stance will become a professional. Most won't. But many of them will take something from him that lasts longer than football. Discipline. Self-belief. Showing up every day, even when nobody is watching. That is a legacy you can't count in goals. So to every boy standing with his legs apart before a free kick this evening, in Lagos, in Rio, in London or anywhere else, keep doing it. Just remember the part of the story that happened when the cameras were off. Obrigado, Cristiano. My name is Ajoje. I am a FIFA Licensed Agent and International Sports Lawyer. I write on the Law and Business of Football, a lot. Repost and Follow if you want to read more posts like this.

I fell in love with Cristiano Ronaldo during his Real Madrid days. I watched him score unbelievable long-range goals when people insisted he could only score tap-ins. I watched him top the Champions League assist charts when people called him selfish. I watched him score over 100 headed goals when people claimed he was nothing more than a penalty merchant. I watched him give his teammates their flowers after winning Portugal's first major international trophy when people accused him of making everything about himself. I watched assists become an increasingly important metric when Cristiano was dominating the goalscoring charts season after season and Messi needed another way to match his numbers. I witnessed broadcasters abandon La Liga coverage and turn their attention to Serie A following Cristiano's move to Italy. I watched La Liga's global appeal take a hit after his departure from Spain. I watched him win Ballon d'Or awards despite facing an establishment that often seemed determined to deny him the recognition he deserved. And perhaps most importantly, I witnessed how Cristiano Ronaldo's existence pushed Lionel Messi to become an even better player. Their rivalry elevated football to heights we may never witness again. There will never be another Cristiano Ronaldo. Everywhere you went, you conquered. Everywhere you played, you made history. From Portugal to England. From England to Spain. From Spain to Italy. You conquered leagues, Europe and the world. You defied expectations, silenced critics, shattered records and turned the impossible into something millions of children dared to dream about. You inspired generations. You taught the world that talent may open doors, but discipline, sacrifice, resilience and an unbreakable belief in yourself can take you beyond imagination. Thank you for the memories, the inspiration and the privilege of witnessing your greatness. You weren't just part of football history, Cristiano. You were one of the reasons an entire generation fell in love with football. There will never be another like you. 🐐

We might have our difficulties here in Africa, especially in Ghana, but one thing I will always pride myself on is how we were brought up as children, even in rough and tough neighbourhoods. Murder is a big deal out here. It’s almost alien to us because whenever something like that happens, it becomes major news. We announce and discuss almost every single case in the media, and as a people, we are always shocked and saddened by it. But it seems to have become an almost regular thing in some parts of the West, which makes it scary for my people to feel safe out there. I honestly don’t know what kind of upbringing shapes children to become so evil. I think some of my fellow Black brothers and sisters out there need to do better when it comes to raising their children and instilling the right values in them. It’s very unfortunate that we had to lose Javits this way. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Sending love, prayers and strength to the family, especially his mum and dad. My deepest condolences. ❀️
