SGA on how much it means to beat the Spurs tonight: “I mean, not much to be honest with you. This game doesn't really mean that much. The first game of the season.”
Ajay/Dub/Cason and JWill combined to go 11/38 from the field (29%} and 2-13 from 3 (15%). Have to think that'll just get better.

Victor Wembanyama tonight:
1/13 FG
0/4 3PT
4 turnovers
Silenced by the Big Oxtail
I know the Thunder way is to downplay the importance of every individual game but it would be really nice to kick the Spurs at their place in front of a national audience when we're fully healthy finally.
It will be interesting to see how OKC handles the rotation tonight. With everyone healthy it will def look different than the preseason.Starters prob Shai/Caso/Dub/Chet/IH then Ajay/McCain/Caruso/Kenrich/JWill
Also have Mara/Stirtz. Spurs are starting small. Will be interesting

Thunder injury report for tomorrow's game against the Spurs:
Nikola Topic (back surgery) is out
Thomas Sorber (knee surgery) is out
Otega Oweh (torn Achilles) is out
NBA twitter is acting like the Thunder are going to have to trade their best players. Hate to break it to you but that's not happening: Some 2nd tier guys will be moved down the road but OKC is just getting going.
I have serious doubts that Cason being the starting 2 was ever a part of these negotiations. Sam is not going to put his coach in that position. That's just not how he operates. Mark will always do what he thinks is best for the team and Sam wouldn't have it any other way.
So it seems like even out to 28-29 there is a path to keeping Shai/Dub/Chet/Ajay/Cason/Jwill/Stirtz/Mara which would still be potentially 8 really good players deep plus Sorber plus whoever okc picks in the next couple drafts and not have a crazy tax bill. Thats good!

My current payroll projection for the 2027-28 Oklahoma City Thunder that won’t actually turn out like this.
They’ve got big decisions to make next summer though I still expect them to pay an exorbitant luxury tax bill and operate above the second apron next season.
Just in: Oklahoma City Thunder All-Defensive guard Cason Wallace has agreed to a five-year, $139 million rookie-scale contract extension, agents Jeff Schwartz, Max Lipsett and Marcus Monk of Excel Sports Management tell ESPN.
If Cason makes 27.8 mill next yr which is the total divided by 5 and I'm guessing it starts lower that's 15.8% of next years cap. Lu's first year of his last contract he made 12.35% of the cap. If the first year is $25 mill that would be 14.2%. It's in the Dort range.
1 more day for the Cason deal to get done. Interesting he didn't play Thursday and wasn't listed as being injured. If anything were to happen with him trade wise I don't think would happen until next summer. He's too important.
Most of the pre-season offensive problems come down to guys shooting what they usually do I think. Ajay shot 11% from 3 and 27% overall. Cason 22% from 3 and 33% overall and Dub shot 25% from 3. Also not Chet and Jwill. They'll get it figured out.
3rd game in 4 nights for the rookies and all 3 games were in different cities. They obv didnt do that in college so they get a pass for tonight. I know we are a vet team who are missing important guys but the offense has not looked good in the preseason. Hopefully we're ready.

Here are OKC's starters for its final preseason game against Houston:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Ajay Mitchell
Jalen Williams
Alex Caruso
Isaiah Hartenstein
I think as much as Mara was helpful last night, he had the best +/- but when he came in the first time when they were struggling McCain also came in and the shooting opened things up as much as anything.
