Today, the G7 agreed to deliver US$50 billion to Ukraine, backed by frozen Russian sovereign assets. Canada is a longstanding advocate for using Putin’s war chest to pay for the damage he is causing, and we are pleased to be providing the largest per capita contribution.

This week I joined a working lunch with Ukrainian Canadian community leaders from @ukrcancongress in Etobicoke. We were joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, @melaniejoly and MP @j_maloney to discuss Canada's continuing support for Ukraine and what more Canada can do to support the Ukrainian people.
Victory is the only option for Canada because Ukraine's victory is vital to Canada's security. If Russia wins it will not stop at Ukraine. If Russia wins Europe, the US and Canada will be next in defending ourselves against Russian aggression. So, every Ukrainian soldier fighting today is one less Canadian who will have to fight in the future. Every dollar spent today is millions of dollars less that we will have to spend in the future.
Canada will stand with the Ukrainian people until they win.

"Supporting Ukraine is not charity, but an investment in Canada's security". This was the key message shared by many at Thursday's event on Parliament Hill that I hosted as the Chair of the Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Friendship Group.
Members of Parliament, Senators, dozens of ambassadors from around the world, members of the community and others gathered to mark two years of brave Ukrainian resistance to Russia’s full-scale invasion and to commit our ourselves to standing with the Ukrainian people until they win.
