One thing that's eerily common between Gurdjieff and Castaneda (which ofc the latter has derived a lot of inspiration from, but still) is how they casually mention a similar cosmology and it's very disturbing the first time you're exposed to it.
With Gurdjieff, he mentions this to his "advanced" students in private talks (we have excerpts) and with Castaneda, this is only mentioned in his LAST book ever, published the year he died.
Just like other plants and animals, human beings also have predator(s). Just like the fish in a tank, even though they've been bred by us for a gazillion years to be killed & eaten, they have ZERO idea about it - they have their own little worlds and things and the whole cycle continues.
Human beings are also a "feed" for some other things. This is mentioned in esoteric texts, like how two humans can sit next to each other, but one would be closer to a plant vs the other, closer to an angel (on the level of being). We all look the same, the flesh body, but that's not the ONLY body humans have.
Just like how it's the norm of nature to always overproduce, and only a tiny tiny few survive and grow (think sperm -> human, and literally everything else also), human beings are also like that - most will become manure, keeping the lowest form of life going, so higher humans/beings can evolve out of it, albeit very very few, very very rare. That's given. That's how this whole game is designed.
All of this is so otherwordly and so obvious at the same time. And explains a whole lot.

Red Dead Redemption 2 just got a new mod titled "enRAGE" that adds a fully functional nemesis system into the game.
This makes every single NPC have a name, traits, quirks, a trade, a faith, a family and a life story. So people you meet turn up again in the same towns with the same face and the same grudges as it adds a full memory system.
The map is now populated with 8 factions that are constantly at war with each other, having their own hierarchy and captains that you or their enemies can take out. Every single encounter is remembered, including exactly where you wounded them in the case that they survive the fight. This means that RDR2 now has a fully functional faction war that goes on all the time with this mod and factions will remember your actions against them. There is a ton of new dialogue and you can even interrogate NPCs now to get additional information on their friends and allies.
This is an extremely impressive mod and it's now available in early access to download for anyone who has RDR2 on PC.

One of the most powerful things that you can do (and most don't) is sit in silence, focus on the breath, and surrender in the gap of silence between the breath. You can submerge into this space and then become the silence between 2 thoughts to enter pure awareness.
The craziest part is that something this simple (yet challenging) will allow you to find the deepest answers inwards about yourself (self) than you ever did looking outwards (ego).
You will be amazed at what is possible with consistency of this.
The modern human doesn't need more, it needs less. We don't need to be more productive, we don't need to automate more of our job with AI, and we don't need more time spent on technology disconnecting us from inner being.
We must not only strip back all the physical materials that linger in our environment that don't serve a purpose besides taking up space, AND we must strip back who we think we are, and our whole identity that's been governed by ego.
