Background processes, unnecessary system activity, and poorly optimized settings can contribute to input delay, inconsistent FPS, and stutters while gaming or streaming.

Discord has a setting that tells your router its voice packets matter more than your game, and it's on by default.
"quality of service high packet priority" sounds like it helps. on a lot of routers it does the opposite, mishandled priority flags mean packet loss and ping spikes mid-match, only while you're in a call. that's why the lag feels random.
Here is how to disable it:⬇️

all three are on by default. all three cost you frames or input delay, and none of them were your choice.

"Turn off Discord's hardware acceleration"
For Fortnite it's the worst thing you can do.
Hardware Acceleration ON → Discord renders on your GPU.
Hardware Acceleration OFF → it dumps onto your CPU. The exact thing Fortnite is already maxing out.
Leave it ON ✅
