This would require a European country to create launch capacity, which probably won’t happen because no government has the political will power leadership or imagination to recognise how important access to space is about to become, and issue appropriately large launch contracts. It’s all about ESA in the EU and Ariane 6 is a generation behind. Exciting to see what Isar is doing though. The rocket just needs to be 3x bigger!
To replace Starlink, Europe will have to reawaken its animal spirits ft.trib.al/jTkjFtc | opinion
"...that somebody at home, on their device, on their laptop can actually check exactly what has happened on a model training run"
Verifiable, auditable model training
Gensyn CEO @benfielding warns that AI agents auditing other AI agents can be compromised too:
"We create swarms of AI agents that can do far more work than any human could. A human can’t follow along and check everything. One of the big counters is to say that agents can do the verification."
"But METR says those agents themselves can become corrupted by the training process, and you can’t trust any agent that’s auditing another agent. If you’ve trained a model in an auditable way, you can trust it."
"Any claim where the model is hiding its chain of thought falls away, because you have an exact log of everything that’s happened, and you can rerun every single step on any device."
"For national security, finance, pharma, health, insurance, it’s essential that they have models like these. If a regulator wanted to audit, they wouldn’t have to go off promises of the company."

Ukraine's export restrictions risk keeping weapons home while pushing makers abroad. A record 14 Ukrainian firms attended AUSA this year. Trade show access doesn't mean market access.

We care more when drone wingmen enter service than where they're built.

We expect Poland's energy changes to matter more for data centres than another AI strategy.

Automated inbound to VCs and angels is now out of control. As Founders, I strongly recommend you don't do it. Get intros, target investors. You may need to spread the net wider, especially as an early stage startup. But don't just spam wildly. We can smell it a mile off and it's a red flag. Especially when it reads: "We’ve been selective about the funds we approach, and Innovacom Gestion came up repeatedly in our internal discussions" ...they should probably talk to Innovacom Gestion then, not me.
We see a bigger business in testing AI for dangerous capabilities than compliance paperwork.

The fully consequence / side effects of GLP-1 won’t be known for years. I’m a big believer there is no free lunch…few short cuts in life. You always pay another way. Health implications aside, the profitability is undeniable.
I think it was @azeem the first to point out that GLP-1 is bigger than AI. I still find it crazy to believe.
And we are so early on both.

Our bet: quantum security's first big market is finding unmapped systems.
Only 1 of 24 US federal agencies met GAO inventory requirements. Know what needs replacing before buying new cryptography.

Factory access will help us keep more UK deep tech here than another accelerator.
@imperialcollege and @uniofwarwick's Scaleup Pathway links London deep tech to West Midlands manufacturing. A reason to keep production here alongside registered offices.

We met Seb and Winnie before @universalquant existed.
Even back in 2018, they were committed to quantum architectures that could scale.
Today they announced the UK's largest quantum Series-A - to continue pioneering just that.
We're proud to have been there from the start.
We've raised over $100M in Series A funding to scale utility quantum computing globally.
Thank you to our investors, partners, customers and the UQ team for making this possible.

We see more AI upside in reliable, permitted power than another software layer.
A New Jersey data centre ran 62 gas-fired generators without permits for nearly a year.

We see airspace monitoring as a defence market neutral countries can't avoid.

This video was AI created using live brain neurons, living on a microchip. People sometimes ask "Do you enjoy being an investor instead of a founder?" backing companies like @BioComputingCo is why I can answer yes. I LOVE what I do.

We backed Volantissemi.ai in an earlier round so it's exciting to be alongside great new investors as Tapa's vision becomes a reality.
So many chips companies promise iteration in performance - Volantis offers a stepchange in PPAC.
Excited to announce Volantis's $88M Series A.
We are solving Al's memory bottleneck by using optics, enabling chips with huge amounts of fast & cheap memory.
By boosting both the memory bandwidth and capacity per chip by orders of magnitude, we enable ultra-fast inference (up to 10,000 tps/user) for large models (>10T) - with low $/tok to boot.
Initially, this will enable insanely fast agents - think coding agents that finish in minutes or even seconds instead of hours.
More excitingly, optics is a fundamentally scalable way to increase memory systems. Not 2X/year, but by orders of magnitude across new generations. This will enable a structurally new Al industry, including restarting scaling laws, holding entire repos in context windows & more.
Our team has pioneered many core semiconductor technologies: the 1st CoWoS product, early HBM, the 1st silicon photonics CPO systems, the 1st high volume tunable VCSELs, the 1st processors to directly communicate using light & more.
We’ve already sent data >10× farther than equally tiny electrical wires inside a chip package. Our next iteration is already taped out and targets world-record bandwidth density over relevant distances, read more: volantissemi.ai/news-insight…
Non-competes protect incumbents more than inventions.
The UK AI minister says changes are moving ‘extremely rapidly’. One sidelined hire can cost a pre-seed team months of progress.
