Every single pollster was dead wrong in Mississauga mayoral polling, and off by a country mile.
This unscientific online reader poll in July by 905 Hub is about as close as anyone got to the actual result.
Hundreds of police calls and more than 50 arrests later, Mississauga wants to take two #PortCredit houses and turn them into a parking lot.
The homes at 34 and 36 Peter St N sit across from Riverside Public School. Peel police say calls there involved disturbances, assaults, weapons, thefts and drugs. Ward 1 Coun. Stephen Dasko says as many as two dozen people appeared to be living in the two homes at one point.
The owners’ lawyer says they’re working with the city on a solution and have asked for a hearing to challenge the expropriation.

The city’s population dipped about half a per cent, from 721,599 to 717,961, according to Statistics Canada. Much of the city lost people, with only a few pockets still growing.

Update: A 19-year-old man has died after police tracked him to a residence at the University of Toronto Mississauga on Monday night, according to Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit.
The SIU says police were looking for the man after a woman was assaulted in Brampton earlier that day. Officers found him at the McLuhan Court residence around 9 p.m. A gunshot was heard, and the man was found inside with what the SIU says was a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He died early this morning.
No one else was hurt, and the SIU says there is no threat to public safety. Because Peel police were at the scene, the SIU is now investigating.
UTM’s campus is open today, but classes are cancelled. Counselling and mental health supports are available for students and staff.

MISSING: Peel police are asking for help finding 13-year-old Alyssia, who was last seen on October 27 around 4:30 p.m. near Hurontario St and Courtneypark Dr.
She’s described as about 5'7" with a medium build, and may be wearing a red wig in a ponytail. She was last seen in a light-coloured bandana, possibly yellow, a black jacket, a brown sweatshirt and black tights.
