Most people have no idea what shadow work actually is.
It’s not journaling affirmations.
It’s not “thinking positive.”
It’s sitting with the uncomfortable feelings, beliefs, thoughts, and old stories you’ve been carrying — the things someone said to you years ago, the projections you absorbed, the situations you still hold in your body.
Your shadow is real. 👥
It’s also the part of you that made bad choices thinking it was protecting you. When you over reacted, said things you shouldn’t, did things you know you shouldn’t have. Your shadow is not your enemy. They are you.
We are all light and darkness.
It’s the part of you that got pushed down so you could survive.
Shadow work is the willingness to stop running from it.
To sit with it.
To feel it fully.
To learn the lesson it’s been trying to show you.
And then… to let it go.
When you do that, you don’t destroy the shadow.
You integrate it.
It becomes part of you instead of something that controls you.
That’s when you become whole.
Free from the old programming.
Free from the pain and suffering that was never truly yours to keep.
The work is simple.
It’s just not easy. That’s why many won’t do the work.
And it’s one of the most powerful and healing things you will ever do for yourself.
It took me two years of daily meditation sitting with the uncomfortable feelings and situations to learn all the lessons, reprogram my thoughts and beliefs about myself and the world to let it all go.
One situation, one person, one idea or belief or fear at a time. When I noticed something that was still lingering I sat down and faced it.
That’s for me though. I can’t tell you how long it may or may not take you. Depends on how much you are carrying and have been through. Please take the time to do this for yourself.
