We look forward to Thursday afternoon when Mrs. Puglisi comes to our class to practice math concepts! We loved the video of her son taking candy from the candy bowl! It was fun to figure out the missing number!!

What a fun way to problem solve while we fill our bowls with “candy chips” and feed our faces! We learned that we can use addition or subtraction to figure out the equation as long as it makes sense!

I really like using base 10 blocks and building this image.
I ask students, “What’s happening when we move left or right? Are we just adding a zero or taking away a zero?”
That will usually get us where we need to go because it emphasizes growing or shrinking by x10.
