Teams who win the rush chance battle have won 60+ percent of games this season. Oilers have a positive differential but have shifted to a low event team in this area. Avalanche, usually dominant in this area, are in the red. Devils have gone from break even last season to outer space. Preds , high event, underwater.

The New Jersey Devils have the best per game differentials in... Shot Attempts, Scoring Chances, Slot Shots, Inner Slot Shots, Rush Chances and Rebound Chances. They are 2nd in OZ possession, shots and expected goals.

I am hoping that the fourth line has a big game tonight. Glass was getting some good shots on net last night but should be pretty fresh after playing a bit under 10 minutes. If they get a 4-4 matchup, I'd like to see them start clicking with Brown on the right.

This is the kind of stuff that makes me say Brett Pesce is actually not bad at moving the puck. He's never flashy, but he aids the cycle perfectly when the team is playing their game. For a "shutdown" guy, he doesn't like to cede any ice and always pushes the play.

You feel a bit bad piling on Luke Hughes on what is truly just a nightmare night for him, but frankly, we're kinda long past due a national conversation about whether he's actually a good NHL defenseman. Because he often doesn't look like one, and his underlying numbers are BAD.
