⚠️ 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐓𝐇𝐘 𝐀𝐈𝐑 𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐊 𝐀𝐋𝐄𝐑𝐓: 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐀𝐘, 𝐎𝐂𝐓𝐎𝐁𝐄𝐑 𝟐𝟑
Central Oklahoma is facing its 𝟕𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐢𝐫 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔.
ACOG and the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ) are forecasting the potential for elevated ozone pollution tomorrow. Air quality conditions may affect sensitive groups, including children, older adults and people with respiratory conditions.
Help keep Central Oklahoma's air healthier by taking a few simple steps:
🚗 Combine errands and avoid unnecessary vehicle idling.
🏡 Work from home if possible.
🌱 Postpone mowing and other activities that use gasoline-powered equipment.
🔥 Avoid outdoor burning and follow local burn bans.
Small actions can make a difference in reducing emissions and protecting public health.

From record heat to record rain—Oklahoma weather keeps us on our toes. 🌧️
After Oklahoma’s hottest September on record, Oklahoma City received 5.59 inches of rain on October 14, setting a rainfall record for that date.
Rain can bring relief, but drought recovery takes time. This year’s dry wells, low streamflows and difficult farming and ranching conditions are reminders of why planning ahead matters.
Our reservoirs and water infrastructure help communities weather dry periods. As conditions improve, it’s a good time to prepare for the next drought.

Newer vehicles have lifesaving driver assistance safety technologies to help pedestrians. These
technologies include automatic emergency braking, rear backup cameras, pedestrian-friendly
front structures and better headlights for identifying pedestrians at night. Know how to use these
technologies when driving to keep everyone safe. #PedestrianSafetyMonth
If a fire started tonight, would everyone in your home know how to get out?
Before Fire Prevention Week ends, make and practice your home escape plan:
• Identify two ways out of every room.
• Keep doors and windows clear.
• Choose a safe meeting place outside.
• Plan for anyone who may need help escaping.
• Practice with everyone in your household.
If a fire occurs, get out, stay out and call 911 from a safe place outside. Tell the dispatcher your address and whether anyone is still inside.

Where do you charge your phone?
Fire Prevention Week is October 4–10, and this year’s focus is safe charging. Phones, laptops and other everyday devices use lithium-ion batteries that can pose a fire risk when damaged or used incorrectly.
Help protect your home:
🔌 Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
📱 Charge on a hard, flat surface—not a bed, couch or under a pillow.
🔋 Unplug your device when it is fully charged.
Take a look at your charging setup today. A few simple changes can help prevent a fire.

How can you participate in a #WeekWithoutDriving? Take transit, walk, roll or ride. Instead of driving yourself, try another way to get where you need to go for some or all of your trips. Walk, roll, take the bus, ride a bike or a scooter.
