Thank you @curatorian for making my Easter and confirming that this is my grandfather, Claude Lapsley, a chaplain in the 8th Army. I hardly remember him, but knew he was Anzio and something in his bearing in this film recalled my late father. @I_W_M @ArmyChaplaincy
Easter Sunday, 1944 - in Italy, in the Anzio beachhead, troops of the Royal Army Service Corps - now @UKArmyLogistics - serving with 1st Division, attend a church service.

This week RAF Typhoons have flown alongside French Rafale jets - the first time the UK has taken part in a French nuclear air exercise. It's a landmark step in UK-France defence co-operation, and a clear signal that we stand shoulder to shoulder with our allies on European security and credible deterrence.
NATO’s Atlantic command has always been important. But the emergence of JFC Norfolk as a multi-domain command with responsibility for the UK homeland, Scandinavia and much of the Arctic, puts it at the heart of UK strategic interests in NATO. General Nick is a great addition.
General Nick Perry DSO MBE 🇬🇧 assumes Command of Joint Force Command Norfolk.
Addressing the Command, Gen. Perry set out a clear focus for JFC Norfolk and NATO’s mission across the North Atlantic:
“The North Atlantic is once again a theatre of strategic competition. The assumptions many of us enjoyed for decades can no longer be taken for granted. That is why:
🔹Deterrence matters.
🔹Readiness matters.
🔹Warfighting matters.
And that is why this Command exists.
Our task is simple to describe, but demanding to deliver: to ensure NATO can deter aggression, defend the Alliance and, if deterrence fails, prevail in conflict alongside our Allies and partners.”

Pleasure to welcome @SecGenNATO to @DefenceHQ to talk about how we build a stronger Britain in a stronger Europe, for a stronger NATO.
NATO is the most successful defensive alliance in history. In a more dangerous world, this partnership is the cornerstone of our security 🇬🇧

🇬🇧🇪🇪 “Our goal is not to invade Russia or put Russia under any threat, but to stop them from coming.
“We want to explain to them as clearly as we can that the cost of doing that far outweighs the benefits.”
In an interview with @errnews, Estonian Public Broadcasting, Brig. Jamie Murray @CommanderCabrit, commander of the UK’s Operation Cabrit in Estonia and Deputy Commander of the Estonian Division, stressed that @NATO’s goal is to deter any potential attack and that any Russian threat to Estonia would also constitute a threat to the entire Alliance.

Murray is confident that the Alliance can act quickly in a crisis.
Close UK–Estonia ties and NATO readiness are key to deterring Russia and adapting to modern warfare.
“From all of my experience — nearly 30 years in the army — we are working closer with Estonian forces than any other forces anywhere on the planet, in my view,” Murray said.
British troops have been in Estonia for nine years. About 900 British soldiers are currently stationed in the country, with that number expected to rise to around 1,200 next spring.
In addition, the UK’s 4th Brigade is maintained and developed at high readiness in the United Kingdom to reinforce Estonia in the event of a crisis or conflict.
🇪🇪🤝🇬🇧 A big thank you to the UK and its troops for standing with Estonia and strengthening our shared security.

Today I had the pleasure of opening the two-day International Contact Group on Civilian Harm Mitigation & Response hosted by @NATO in collaboration with @UKNATO & @NLatNATO. The meeting brought together Allies, partners, military colleagues, NGOs and academics to exchange experiences and explore ways to strengthen cooperation in mitigating and responding to civilian harm. #CHMR is a shared responsibility and it requires continued dialogue and coordination. Thank you Amb. @ACWLapsley and Amb. @MarceldeVink for your presence and commitment #WeAreNATO #StrongerTogether #WPS

For over 26 years, the U.S. has supported KFOR as a pillar of stability. I had an important meeting with Major General Ozkan Ulutas, Commander of KFOR, to discuss our mission in the Western Balkans. We are Kosovo’s strongest partner, enhancing the country’s ability to defend itself. As we call on Allies to take greater responsibility for European security, KFOR remains critical to a safe and resilient region.

For 77 years #NATO has looked after the security of its citizens. I'm proud to be part of NATO's International Staff. And I'm absolutely confident the Alliance will continue to protect 1 billion people across the US, Canada, and 30 European nations for many years to come.
Today, NATO turns 7️⃣7️⃣.

🇫🇮 🇸🇪 🇩🇰 joining 🇮🇸 🇳🇴 🇬🇧 in @JFCNorfolk provides powerful coherence between controlling the Atlantic and protecting NATO’s High North flank. Deep links with the Baltic states will remain, not least through the JEF. Another key building block in stronger collective defence.
🇫🇮 Finland, 🇸🇪 Sweden, and 🇩🇰 Denmark are now part of the same NATO Command, strengthening defence in the Atlantic and boosting shared security in the Arctic region ❄️
