I guess an ideology that justifies modern hedonism as more “advanced” has more appeal than boring proposals on industrial policy or land reform. This also applies to some naive Islamists who think piety and religious orthodoxy are a substitute for things like economic planning.

Dr Ali Ataie’s magnum opus has arrived! The Uncrucified Christ is essential reading for every Muslim engaged in Christian–Muslim dialogue and debate. A landmark contribution to the historical study of Jesus of Nazareth.

The sheer speed at which this particular change has come about and intensified is truly incredible. I mean I'm only 32 and even in my lifetime, absolutely basic opinions that 95% of Americans espoused are now utterly Haram even amongst self-styled "conservatives." In 2002 -- just 25 years ago -- gay "marriage" was unthinkable to all but the lunatic fringe of the furthest left liberals. "Trans" literally didn't exist except as an exotic (and gross) joke. Most families, at least in rural areas like the one I grew up in, were still basically traditional -- wife at home mothering the kids, fathers were heads of household in the true sense, kids were running and playing outside. The only "working mothers" I knew were very poor, usually single mothers. It was still considered desirable and high-status for a woman to not have to work. Women would openly show gratitude for not having to work jobs, and would say things like "what woman would want a job? Seeing what my husband deals with at his job, I'm not envious of THAT..." Hell, around that time kids were still coming to school after deer hunting and left their rifles in their locked trucks. No problem. No metal detectors or "safety officers" at High Schools. It was essentially impossible to buy marijuana in my town, too. Wildest it got was drinking a 12-rack of Molson at a bonfire or maybe a fistfight with a kid from another town, no kidding. Fast-forward just 25 years and you'll get crucified online or at family functions for even suggesting that there are objective differences between men and women, or that kids need their mothers at home instead of being raised by daycare staff, or for even saying the word "queer." Having a beer or trapping beaver or "having too many kids" is looked upon with disgust by many, but publicly celebrating sodomy isn't. Even many "conservatives" gasp if you suggest that things like marijuana, pride parades, vasectomies, or divorces are bad -- and many of them are open atheists. The worst part of it is that you're not only not supposed to notice these changes, you're intensely socially pressured to go along with all of it. Are we better off for this incredibly swift series of changes? It doesn't appear that we are. Birthrates continue to crater, depression rates are sky-high, people are lonelier than ever. We've changed too much too fast, and for it, we've lost ourselves, everybody is in this kind of mass psychosis -- and those who see this for what it is are scorned even in the company of "conservatives." It's insanity. This era really feels like America's mid-life crisis.

"Islam saved Jewry. This is an unpopular, discomforting claim in the modern world. But it is a historical truth. The argument for it is double. First, in 570 CE, when the Prophet Mohammad was born, the Jews and Judaism were on the way to oblivion. And second, the coming of Islam saved them, providing a new context in which they not only survived, but flourished, laying foundations for subsequent Jewish cultural prosperity - also in Christendom - through the medieval period into the modern world." This is the opening paragraph of "So, What Did The Muslims Do For The Jews?", an essay by David J Wasserstein, the Eugene Greener Jr Professor of Jewish Studies at Vanderbilt University. It was published in The Jewish Chronicle on 24 May 2012. History is not a science, and historians will often interpret the same data in different ways, particularly so when writing in different eras. This reality notwithstanding, Professor Wasserstein's essay, and the many details he references, provides a useful and necessary corrective to the fact-free, ahistorical ideological ravings that have become all-too-common substitutes for serious historical research and analysis. My thanks to @xtc_uk for drawing my attention to this important essay in his response to one of my less gifted trolls. Under pressure from Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Trump administration may be within days of launching a nuclear strike on Iran. The target would be Pickax Mountain in central Iran, where Israeli intelligence claims the Iranian government has restarted its nuclear enrichment program. No conventional weapon in the American arsenal can penetrate 300 feet of solid granite to destroy the tunnels where enrichment is supposedly taking place. The only military option is a nuclear strike. Netanyahu has been pushing hard for one. “Bibi calls Trump about it every day,” says an informed observer. Netanyahu is cornered and desperate. After last week’s election results, he can’t form a government unless Trump intervenes directly in Israeli politics and brokers a deal with other parties that gives Netanyahu 61 seats in the Knesset. Otherwise, he is out as prime minister and on his way to ignominy, investigations and possibly jail. Netanyahu must stay close to Trump. He needs this war. To that end, he’s applied maximum pressure to his closest allies in the administration, including Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper. Both oppose a negotiated settlement to the war they’ve so grievously mismanaged; both are pushing to restart major combat operations. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and CIA director John Ratcliffe are also following Netanyahu’s lead, as are leaders of the Democratic Party. In a recent meeting on the subject, former president Barack Obama said he opposes the current Iran peace deal being drafted in Doha. The rest of America’s longtime allies in the Middle East are terrified by the prospect of more war. On September 27th, Netanyahu flew secretly to Abu Dhabi to enlist the UAE in his lobbying effort for a final attack on Iran. The Emiratis refused. After eight months of conflict, Gulf economies are teetering. So are global energy and fertilizer markets. They won’t recover soon. Globally, there are a total of about 850 supertankers used to transport oil from producers to the rest of the world. In October alone, 11 of them were badly damaged in Hormuz. At this pace, a global depression is imminent. A nuclear strike would radically accelerate the destruction. Fallout from a ground explosion at Pickax Mountain would contaminate the Persian Gulf, poisoning the water supply for 100 million people. And those are just some of the immediate consequences for the region. The rest of the world is every bit as exposed. No country other than the United States has ever used a nuclear weapon in war. Some would like to. An American nuclear attack on Iran would set a new precedent. The Russians have already told at least two other governments that an American nuclear strike on Iran would free them to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine. Pakistan and India would be tempted to do the same against each other, as would North Korea against Seoul. After the first nuclear strike, World War Three is inevitable. That war would be short and final. We’ve been sleepwalking toward this moment for months. Since February, the administration has quietly rewritten America’s nuclear doctrine to make first use of so-called “battlefield nukes” easier and therefore more likely. No one in Washington in either party seems bothered by this. Now we’re on the brink of it. Close observers say Trump is likely to decide by next weekend whether or not to use nuclear weapons. That would be November 7, six days from now. To his credit, he’s hesitating. At the moment, Trump is listening to his vice president, JD Vance, and to his envoy and friend Steve Witkoff, both of whom argue a deal with Iran can be made. They’re right, though it won’t be simple. The Iranians are famously frustrating to negotiate with under any circumstances, and elements of that government have become more radical since Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his family were killed in February. After decades of isolation, even relatively moderate Iranian leaders seem confused by how decisions are made in the West. (There is a widespread belief in Tehran, for example, that the United States government controls Israel.) But overall, people who have spoken to decision-makers in Iran say there is consensus there that more war is bad for everyone and a deal is worth making. One group that hasn’t been consulted so far is the global population — the hundreds of millions of people who will be killed along with their children if Trump is pushed by Netanyahu into launching a nuclear strike next week. Now would be the time for them to speak up.

Ben Shapiro went on a Jewish podcast yesterday and said that Israel's top-performing Arab party should be banned following their electoral success, then did his own show and told his audience that Arabs voting is proof Israel isn't an apartheid state. The chutzpah is incredible.
Ben Shapiro says Israel's top-performing Arab party should be banned. "If you're going to ban the Kahanists, then banning the Arab party that calls for…the destruction of the state of Israel, that would seem some pretty baseline stuff."

Emily Oster is pro gambling now? Is there literally anyone in society who will say no to these parasitic freaks
Pretty disappointed that @ProfEmilyOster would choose to lend her credibility to prediction markets (which are, in practice, sportsbooks with a side of wagering on elections and oil futures), particularly when one considers the harm they are bringing to kids and parents.

There are many uniquely bizarre aspects to the US/Israel relationship but the most bizarre is how relfexively pro-Israel Americans will side with that *foreign country* even when they attack, beat, persecute or kill their own fellow Americans. It's extra surreal, and disgusting, watching politicians who call themselves "America First" -- like Mike Huckabee -- do this.
Ambassador Huckabee, this is unreleased video of an American who was beaten almost to death last week by Israeli settlers. You know his name because he came to you for help, but you blew him off. That’s disgraceful. Do your job. @GovMikeHuckabee @SecRubio @davidamilstein @WhiteHouse

Tarek, you’re a coward who’s refused to face me on multiple platforms, even neutral ones. Probably afraid your low-IQ slop can’t take scrutiny You know horse betting is classified as gambling despite running on the same peer-to-peer basis as your so-called exchange
Yes, a bet and a trade often look similar. But how they work is fundamentally different. A sportsbook sets the odds and takes the other side of your bet. Prediction markets are markets, where buyers and sellers compete to discover and produce efficient prices and enable important public benefits. What the market is about can change, but the structure doesn't. My op-ed on prediction markets and regulation:

Abdul Sayed has never supported Islamism or advocated for any kind of violence. But here’s Eli Lake wearing a tshirt of Menachem Begin who led a Zionist militant group that bombed the King David Hotel, killing almost one hundred people.
Does the left understand how ridiculous it looks to claim anti-Sayed Democrats are more loyal to Israel than America, while simultaneously claiming that any inquiry into El-Sayed’s very real links to the Muslim Brotherhood is an unwarranted attack on his patriotism?

Yes, Palestinian testimonies from the 1948 Tantura events describe Israeli forces selecting groups of men, shooting one, forcing the others to carry the body to a pit, then repeating the process and dumping them in. Similar accounts note carriers of bodies on stretchers later shot into the same ditch. Some Israeli veteran testimonies confirm post-battle executions and mass graves there (estimates dozens to 200+), though overall details and context remain contested in historical debate.

Please retweet this enough so we get these oppressors' attention. An Afghan heart patient went to Pakistan for treatment but then got detained by the police and consequently are being deported. Problem is that they are not being deported fast enough so the heart patient can at least get some relief back home. They are interned in a camp, and are taking their sweet time with deportation. This is also on the Afghan government. In 5 years (and 20 before that, thanks to the corruption and incompetence of Karzai and Ghani) you don't have a decent cardiology hospital so your people don't get humiliated elsewhere.
