As a farmer in the Philippines, @ADAlvarez7 is passionate about sharing knowledge, encouraging innovation, and helping fellow producers succeed. Through his work, AD is proving that when farmers support one another, entire communities grow stronger.

Lots of talk about glyphosate, so I want to add some context to the noise.
Glyphosate is a molecule.
It has been studied for 50 years.
Hundreds of regulatory reviews.
Tens of thousands of pages of data.
Toxicology, residue studies, epidemiology, environmental fate.
You donβt have to βtrust Monsanto.β
You can read assessments from:
πΊπΈ EPA
πͺπΊ EFSA
π―π΅ PMDA
π¨π¦ Health Canada
Hereβs what gets lost in the shouting:
Hazard β Risk.
Risk = Hazard Γ Exposure.
Realβworld dietary exposure?
Measured in micrograms.
Hundreds of times below conservative safety limits.
Thatβs risk assessment.
And no- IARC saying βprobably carcinogenicβ does not mean βcauses cancer at realβworld exposure.β
It means same category as:
β Red meat
β Night shift work
β Very hot beverages
Context matters.
If you think farmers spray poison because they enjoy it, youβve never met a farmer.
They use tools.
Tools are evaluated.
If they donβt work, theyβre dropped.
If they arenβt safe under regulation, theyβre not approved.
The claim that we are all being secretly poisoned? That collapses under doseβresponse curves and biomonitoring data.
Emotion spreads faster than toxicology. But toxicology still wins.
If you care about food, health, and the environment, learn the difference between hazard and risk.
It will change how you see almost every chemical debate online.
And yesterday, SCOTUS (7β2) made something else clear:
You donβt get to turn fear into a label.
If regulators didnβt require a warning,
you donβt get to invent one through litigation.

I am extremely grateful for being able to participate, listen and help formulate ideas as we all work towards making this world a better place. Much work ahead. As a farmer who is engaged in these kinds of events, we can bring a valuable angle in the conversations.
The International Plant Treaty encourages all Contracting Parties to protect, promote and realize Farmersβ Rights as set out in Article 9.

As a farmer, we do care for the protection of varieties under the stewardship of indigent groups. However, we are more concern about the desperate need to meet production goals that will feed the masses. We can only do that through modern and innovative approaches.
The Second Global Symposium theme β βFarmersβ Rights: Honouring Heritage, Preserving Biodiversity & Cultivating Food Securityβ β highlights farmersβ vital role in feeding the world & building fair agrifood systems.

Science is hard. It questions itself. It updates. It fails, learns, and tries again.
Itβs slow, boring, rigorous and thatβs what makes it work.
Pseudoscience?
It gives you certainty.
It gives you villains.
It gives you fear.
Neatly packaged and ready to share.
Science says: βWeβre 95% sure.β
Pseudoscience screams: βWAKE UP SHEEPLE!β
One builds self driving cars.
The other builds conspiracy theories.
One saved your life with antibiotics, vaccines, clean water.
The other sells you detox teas and mistrust.
We donβt need less science.
We need less bullshit dressed up like science.
(continuation) their struggles and challenges while faithfully producing food for others.
Thank you FAO for the opportunity and for listening. More work ahead.
Now back to farming. ππ½π΅ππ
(continuation).. they were all listening. We need farmer voices in every discussion of food.
This is a very special experience for me. I pray and hope that I was able to do it well for the sake of other farmers who may not have the chance to speak about ... (Part 3)
