Could not be more excited to finally make public the partnership we started with @adamnash and the @DaffyGiving team. With this new partnership it's even easier for Secfi clients to give back to the causes they care about in an easy way. More here! secfi.com/learn/daffy-and-se…

Stripe’s $7B funding round is raising eyebrows, not just because it’s the largest ever. But because they took a large valuation cut to get it. And, it’s all for an employee tender offer. @ViejeP has been speaking with our Stripe clients about what it means for them, and what could have been if they had IPO’d earlier. So, he ran some numbers for a hypothetical Stripe employee:👇🧵

Ever wonder what it’s like being an early Stripe employee with stock options? We put together a case study with real numbers that shows the roller coaster of the last few years. We’ve been working with a lot of clients with a difficult decision to make next month. – at South San Francisco, CA

Great interview thread @AskSecfi about the major tax benefits of giving to charity this holiday season. As we get closer to the end of the year, remember this is the right time to donate stock, ETFs, crypto, etc. One of the best tax deductions available. 💯
Giving back is great for the community. But did you know that it could also be great for your wallet? 🤯 We invited @adamnash, CEO and co-founder of @DaffyGiving, to share how donor-advised funds (DAF) can support your favorite causes, & why they can benefit you on #tax day. 🧵

Layoffs have begun at Twitter and this will likely save Elon from paying $1B+ in total equity compensation payouts at the expense of the employees. Twitter employees were sitting on up to $3.3B in unvested restricted stock units (RSUs) because of Elon's $54.20 bid to take...

As an employee, you invest your time every day just by showing up to work. And, if you have to buy your options you’re also investing your money. Yet we rarely think about the company we work for from an “investment” perspective. Here’s my take on this:

Our tax system is insanely complex. And the truth is that the IRS and courts don't often know how it should work🤷 It's a confusing mess, even for tax experts. But, sometimes, it can be interesting and pretty funny. Here’s some of my favorite tax conundrums and oddities.

I'm honored to be interviewed in the new Venture Monitor report from @Pitchbook and @NVCA about why startup equity is the next untapped market. Startup employees left $5B behind in 2020 and equity education is more important than ever. I’m proud that @asksecfi is leading the way.

Thanks so much @shareworks for having me today. Fantastic conversation! With employees leaving $5B on the table last year, unlocking equity is more important than ever. I’m honored to work with companies to help educate their staff on how to make the most out of their equity.

Why startup employees need to take their equity planning seriously. Beats optimizing your creditcard points any day ;-)
One big winner of the DoorDash IPO? The IRS. 34,554,000 outstanding stock options at a weighted average strike price of $11.78. Series H was at $229.53 per share. I can imagine the IPO will be north of $300. That's a LOT of extra tax revenue due to unexercised options.💸💸
