#WhyArchives Archives matter. Accountability, transparency, knowledge. Items from the site have been used in classrooms, books, interpretive signs. They provide context. Sometimes they remind us of what we've forgotten. Thanks @ARAScot for taking us on this #Archive30 journey!

#Archive30 Day 25 #ConservationWin In some ways, everything our partners put up on the site counts as a win for conservation: digital access copies are great for access and for reducing wear and tear on the originals. Here's one diary: bit.ly/3g7pMkt @AKStateLibrary

#Archive30 day 18 is #ArchiveBuilding When items are uploaded to the site, the software goes through them and adds all their search terms to make your searches faster. This is called indexing and it's what "builds" the site! Or at least the searchability of the site.

#ArchiveAdvice Want to re-use an item or provide more info about it to the partner that has it? The unique identifier on each item lets them know which item(s) you're talking about! Photo info: bit.ly/2OGFuYA from @AnchorageMuseum #Archive30 day 17

16th day of #Archive30, #ArchiveEnvironment from our @AKStateLibrary partner. Just kidding. Our vaults may be "colder" storage but even we don't go this far. Too much water in this environment, for one! Photo info: bit.ly/3mkK7nL

Day 11 of #Archive30 #Misconceptions: archives = old! It's especially important with digital images to preserve as soon as possible. Our @CLArchives partner is saving this 2016 smartphone capture of graffiti at Ship Creek, Anchorage. Photo info: bit.ly/3sSIqQF
