Our students of the Master of Public Policy programme (Batch 2025-2027) participated in a three-day Village Immersion Programme in Yadgir district, Karnataka, in collaboration with @APD_India
Across Yadgir, Shahapur, Surpur, and Gurmitkal, students interacted with Gram Panchayats, Taluk Panchayats, government departments, community-based rehabilitation centres, educational institutions, self-help groups, and local entrepreneurs. Conversations with persons with disabilities, their families, community leaders, frontline workers, and programme beneficiaries helped students understand how public policies and development programmes shape everyday lives.
The immersion explored grassroots governance, disability inclusion, access to public services, education and rural livelihoods, highlighting the importance of community participation and local institutions in making development efforts more responsive to people’s needs.
Kautilya School of Public Policy extends its sincere appreciation to the APD team, community members, local institutions, and everyone who made this learning experience possible.

#Watch | Indian cities have undergone rapid urbanisation over the past few decades. Yet, accessibility continues to evade the design and planning priorities. Despite the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, mandating accessibility in public buildings across the country, Indian cities still have a long way to go when it comes to inclusive public spaces, transport, and other infrastructure. How do we make cities in India answerable for accessibility?

Lovely to be back to on-ground volunteering! I’ve dabbled in mapping before, but this accessibility audit by @WFRising x @APD_India was special. It made me reflect deeply on how people with disabilities navigate our city. Bengaluru needs these accessibility audits ♿️ #YesToAccess

A Heartwarming Visit by CBA Leadership to APD
On 22nd October, APD’s Lingarajapuram campus welcomed senior leaders from Commonwealth Bank of Australia, including Amo Tauialo (Group Auditor) and his team. They toured our facilities, including the Assistive Adaptive Technology and Early Intervention units, and spent time with children at Shradhanjali Integrated School. Amo delighted the kids with a storytelling session, reading Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. We are immensely grateful to CBA for their continued support in our Early Intervention and Livelihood initiatives. Together, we’re creating a lasting impact for persons with disabilities.
