I would like to hear our Catholic Vice President explain why they're intentionally choosing to broadcast the death of a human being for the entire world to see, including children.

Since Pope Leo uses em dashes in Magnifica Humanitas, that means we get to have them back from AI.

Well that’s one of the most compelling answers to that question I’ve ever heard.
Axelrod: There are a lot of people who would like you to run for president in 2028. And there are others who would like you to run for the senate. AOC: In this op-ed that Bezos paid for in The Washington Post, there was a veiled threat—it was the elite saying if you want this job, you just stepped out of line. What’s funny about that is they assume my ambition is positional. They assume my ambition is a title or a seat. My ambition is way bigger than that. My ambition is to change this country. Presidents come and go, elected officials come and go, single payer healthcare is forever.

The pope is *famously* a baseball fan.

Seriously, when does Congress begin assessing the sanity of the President? This “Trump just being Trump” permission slip isn’t enough anymore. If he were the CEO of even a medium sized corporation the board would have removed him a long time ago.

The goal of Christian nationalism is to replace democracy with a deeply flawed theocracy.

Now feels like a great time to share that @MelissaRyan asked me to write about the Pope and the Trump/Vance White House for Ctrl-Alt-Right-Delete and the piece was published today. You can read it here: substack.com/@melissaryan/no…

Voters in Kansas, Ohio, and Missouri all overwhelmingly supported abortion on ballot initiatives since Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022.
Ezra's completely right. The Democratic Party never should have closed its doors to pro-life voices, and it will never win if it doesn't run candidates who actually have a chance to compete in red states. You can't count on Roy Moore-style meltdowns to win Senate seats.

I know the impulse is to ridicule Murkowski for caving, but don’t forget that Josh Hawley even wrote a NY Times oped decrying this bill. Soulless.

Why is it so rare for Senator Collins & Senator Murkowski to be right at the *same time*?! Asking for millions of Americans.

Whoever formed Vance in the Catholic faith did a lousy job. Truly.
Replying to @JDVance
Everything else—the CBO score, the proper baseline, the minutiae of the Medicaid policy—is immaterial compared to the ICE money and immigration enforcement provisions.

War does not solve problems; on the contrary, it amplifies them and inflicts deep wounds on the history of peoples, which take generations to heal. No armed victory can compensate for the pain of mothers, the fear of children, or stolen futures. May diplomacy silence the weapons! May nations chart their futures with works of peace, not with violence and bloodstained conflicts!
