Lebanon cannot afford to wait for Israel, the US, or Hezbollah to act before taking decisive steps to restore its sovereignty.
With regional escalation looming and Washington’s patience wearing thin, ATFL urges Beirut to announce a concrete, time-bound action plan. 🧵

To preserve US support and assert sovereignty, ATFL calls on the Lebanese government to execute four immediate steps:
1 - Consolidate control of the first pilot zones, fully eradicating any Hezbollah presence.
2 - Deploy the LAF to Beirut and north of the Litani to establish a true state monopoly on arms, and fully prosecute recent Hezbollah explosives seizures.
3 - End parliamentary dithering and pass IMF-compliant banking reforms to rebuild confidence and disrupt Hezbollah’s illicit financing networks.
4 - Deliver comprehensive state assistance to southern communities, helping displaced families return and rebuild so the state, not Hezbollah, meets citizens’ needs.
President Aoun, PM Salam, and Speaker Berri must pull together with clear timetables and legislation.
Concrete Lebanese action now offers the best chance to preserve US engagement, hold Israel and the US to the tripartite framework, and spare Lebanon another devastating war.

On the 43rd anniversary of the 1983 Beirut barracks bombing, we remember the 241 American servicemembers and 58 French peacekeepers who tragically lost their lives.
We honor their sacrifice and reaffirm our commitment to peace and security in Lebanon and the region.
Preserving Lebanon's past is an investment in its future. The US and Lebanese governments recently completed a four-year restoration of the Mussaylha Archaeological Site, funded by a $210,000 Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) grant. 🧵
The project restored the historic Mussaylha Fort, reactivated its mill, and trained local farmers in sustainable agriculture. U.S. Ambassador Michel Issa emphasized that this reflects a steadfast commitment to Lebanon's sovereignty and heritage.
Building on this momentum, the US announced a $436,827 investment to preserve a Roman-era site in Chim and revive its historic olive oil tradition in collaboration with ATFL-award-winning NGO Beit el Baraka and the Lebanese Ministry of Culture.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the American Help for Lebanon Association (AHLA) and its Chairwoman, Laura Abinajm Eidson, for coordinating the delivery of essential firefighting equipment, medical supplies, and other critical resources to Lebanon.🧵
Equipping Lebanon's civil defense and first responders is a vital component of protecting local communities. We remain deeply grateful to the Lebanese American diaspora and US-based organizations that actively contribute to the safety and resilience of the Lebanese people. 🇱🇧🇺🇸
Lebanon has taken the historic step of entering direct negotiations with Israel, but the continued destruction of villages threatens to undermine the Trilateral Framework and erode Lebanese public confidence in diplomacy and the Lebanese state.

ATFL applauds Banque du Liban (BDL) for revoking the license of Bank Sadaret in support of the U.S. Department of Treasury's efforts to isolate Iranian institutions from the international financial system.
US Treasury official after Lebanon’s central bank revoked the operating license of Iran’s Bank Saderat:
• Treasury commends Lebanon for taking this tough action even as Iranian leaders were visiting the country
• Secretary Bessent’s message has been received, and countries across the world are taking action to cut off the Iranian regime’s remaining economic lifelines in support of Operation Economic Outcast
• We will continue to work with our counterparts across the globe to end the Iranian regime’s abuse of the global financial system once and for all
