“There is critical political work for us to do across feminist and LGBTQI+ movements. These silos never made sense. In today’s political reality, they make even less sense," Inna Michaeli AWID's Co-Executive Director said at the opening panel of the @ILGAEurope Annual Conference.

🚨We're reporting from the #WHRDAdvocacyWeek!
Last Tuesday, after networking with Geneva-based NGO colleagues in the morning, participants met with the staff of Special Procedures.
Yesterday, the defenders focused on the rights of #IndigenousPeoples, attending the #UN Annual Panel and then the Informal Debate with Special Rapporteur Albert K. Barume. They also learned about how to engage with Treaty Bodies.
With more armed conflicts raging worldwide than ever, and the climate crisis churning out natural disasters and extreme weather events with increasing frequency, learning the lessons from the work of women human rights defenders has never been more urgent. This was the focus of our #HRC63 side event today that highlighted the work of women defenders who live at the intersections of gender, climate and conflict.
Today, participants met with @SREnvironment @astridpuentes and the Working Group on Business and Human Rights. They also brainstormed about how the #UN human rights system can better meet the needs of women defenders.
