It’s a sad day as we’ve lost former Mayor and Councilmember Thelda Williams. Her City family mourns her and extends our heartfelt condolences to her family. Thelda’s service has touched and improved the lives of everyone here, and her legacy will endure far beyond our lifetimes.

Building more housing sounds good - until cities and towns kill a comprehensive bill to relieve the AZ #HousingCrisis. Lawmakers talk a good game about more housing, then defeat a bill to do just that azcentral.com/story/opinion/…

“Thoughtful and well-planned communities” where middle class families can’t afford to live. And where a massive #housingcrisis goes on and on. #sad #HousingForAll
Thank you Senators who opposed SB1117. It would have a detrimental effect on the thoughtful & well-planned communities our cities & towns have cultivated over the past 30 years. We will continue working this #azleg session on language to address available & #affordablehousing

SB 1117 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to roll back exclusionary zoning rules and put Arizona on a path to affordability, integration, and sustainability. If you want to oppose it, fine, but don't do so hiding behind phony progressive rhetoric.

When people tell you who they are, believe them. This Chandler NIMBY group successfully organized to block 518 new affordable housing units. Now they're opposing SB 1117 and making it *very* clear it's because it would allow for new affordable housing to be built.

Great stuff.
We’ve all heard of NIMBYism — the "Not In My Backyard" phenomenon that’s shaped the conversation around housing development in cities around the country. @mnolangray has taken the opposite approach. The Show speaks with him about this. bit.ly/3kifAdH

SB 1117 passes out of committee! State policymakers were clear-eyed on the issue: housing affordability is the number one issue facing Arizonans, and telling them to just wait for local reforme that aren't coming just won't cut it. Onward! – at North Little Rock, AR

.@Tempegov, on an official government account, is posting misleading bill summaries and lobbying against pro-housing state legislation. Inappropriate on many levels. Happily, they're getting roasted in the comments. – at North Little Rock, AR

A friendly reminder to Arizona policymakers: your voters probably care more about the cost of living than they do the sanctity of local control. Just saying!

It’s time for @kaiser4az’s dense SB1117 striker aiming to cut back on restrictive zoning for the purpose of creating more housing. The bill also does a lot to put $ in the HTF. Cities here in full force to (presumably) oppose. Expected to pass committee @mnolangray

Will Gilbert do the right thing and build more #housing?  #NIMBY’s using the same old false scare tactics that #apartments = overcrowded schools, apartments = more traffic, apartments = more crime gilbertsunnews.com/news/rivu…

If you're wondering how deep Arizona's housing shortage is, according to the AZ Department of Housing, 250,000 new houses and apartments must be built to keep up with high demand.

We look forward to continuing to broaden and strengthen our relationship with @AZMultihousing to expand housing opportunities for our housing programs. Apartment owners and operators are critical partners in the efforts to #endhomelessness in all communities.
Thanks to our friends at the @AZMultihousing for the great interview with @shikemore on how we're partnering with their landlord members to end homelessness in our communities. We like the @padmissionapp call-out in the article too! azmultihousing.org/uploads/1…
