SUBJECT: BLOOD ROSE CHAPTER
DATE OF LAST REVISION: 012.M42
I. FOUNDING AND ORIGIN
The Blood Rose Chapter was created during the 13th Founding, commonly referred to as the Dark Founding. Official records list their gene-seed as of unknown provenance. Minor phenotypic and behavioural traits consistent with both Blood Angels and Dark Angels successor lines have been observed, yet no definitive parentage has been confirmed.
It is the considered opinion of several Magos Biologis attached to this office that the Chapter may represent an attempt by an unknown Magos to alter and improve upon the space marine gene-seed. The most notable result of this alteration is a significantly elevated incidence of psychic potential among initiates. The Chapter therefore maintains a Librarius far larger than Codex norms.
II. HOMEWORLD AND DEPLOYMENT
The Chapter is based on the night world of Nox, located in the Halo Stars. Nox experiences near-perpetual darkness. Its dominant flora includes the blood rose, a carnivorous flowering plant whose stem and bloom have been adopted as the Chapter’s primary heraldic motif.
The Blood Rose were stationed in this region with the explicit purpose of standing watch over numerous sites containing dormant, poorly understood xenos entities and archaeotech. These threats are frequently interred in tomb complexes, catacombs, subterranean hives, and other confined alien environments. The Chapter’s primary operational theatre therefore consists of close-quarters fighting in darkness and restricted spaces.
The chapter works frequently with the Death Spectres chapter. The Blood Rose often follow Death Spectre operations with specialized subterranean and garrison units suited for long term containment and exploration/research alongside Adeptus Mechanicus expeditions.
III. ORGANISATION AND DOCTRINE
The Chapter is largely Codex-compliant, with several deviations:
• Armoured vehicle formations are rare. Doctrine and terrain favor dreadnoughts and man-portable heavy weapons.
• The unusually high number of psykers permits extensive use of the Emperor’s Tarot for both divination and counter-divination against the awakening or movement of buried threats.
Chapter Master Charon has ruled from a Dreadnought sarcophagus for several millennia. This arrangement is unusual but has provided the Chapter with exceptional continuity of command.
IV. HERALDRY
• Primary armour colour: black, representing the endless night of Nox.
• Right arm: green, representing the stem of the blood rose.
• Helmets: red, representing the bloom.
• Left pauldron frequently displays a painted night sky as seen from the surface of Nox.
• Right pauldron bears the Chapter badge: a crimson rose.
• Gold trim is employed as a reminder of fealty to the Golden Throne.
V. RELATIONS WITH THE INQUISITION
The Blood Rose maintain an unusually close working relationship with both the Ordo Xenos and elements of the Ordo Malleus. Circumstantial evidence suggests Inquisitorial influence in the Chapter’s original founding and subsequent assignment to the Halo Stars. The Chapter has repeatedly demonstrated willingness to operate under Inquisitorial authority when confronting entities that induce madness merely by observation.
VI. ASSESSMENT
The Blood Rose Chapter is considered a specialised asset rather than a general-purpose battle force. Their combination of elevated psychic strength, Dreadnought-heavy close-quarters doctrine, and long-term stationing in a region of poorly catalogued xenos threats makes them particularly suited to containment and eradication operations against ancient, sanity-threatening entities.
Continued observation is recommended. The nature of their gene-seed modifications and the extent of Inquisitorial involvement in their creation remain subjects of ongoing inquiry.

A college student who calls himself a “future scientist” tells Joshua Haymes a baby in the womb is “not a human being yet.”
So Haymes asks him to Google one question: “When does life begin?”
He reads the answer out loud, and the debate is over.
JOSHUA HAYMES: “My proposition is very simple. It is always evil to intentionally kill an innocent human being.”
STUDENT: “It’s not a human being yet.”
JOSHUA HAYMES: “When does human life begin?”
STUDENT: “I think that’s more of a philosophical question… As a future scientist, even.”
JOSHUA HAYMES: “You would say trust the science. You would agree with trust the science?”
STUDENT: “Yeah, I would.”
JOSHUA HAYMES: “Would you agree that it is always evil to intentionally kill an innocent human being?”
STUDENT: “Innocent, yes.”
JOSHUA HAYMES: “Now, you said you trust the science. Will you do me a favor and just look up on your phone right now: according to all of the available scientific data, when does life begin?”
STUDENT: “It says at fertilization or conception.”
That’s the moment his whole argument collapsed.
JOSHUA HAYMES: “This is the consensus of all of the scientific community that life begins at conception. It’s not a future life. It’s a current life… If you trust the science, you have to say we must abolish abortion.”
STUDENT: [laughing] “Aww man…”
He laughs because he knows he just lost. Credit to him for admitting it.
CONTEXT: The science the student looked up is not just a pro-life talking point.
In 2018, a University of Chicago researcher asked 5,577 biologists from 1,058 institutions when a human life begins. 96% said fertilization. Most of them identified as pro-choice.
In 1952, Planned Parenthood’s own pamphlet told women abortion “kills the life of a baby after it has begun.” The biology hasn’t changed since then. The marketing has.
Having some trouble posting a reply so I’ll just pop this here. It’s not super in depth but hopefully it’s something useful. xitter.cf/aaragoth/status/186124…

It's not a want and I am not asking, I NEED a tutorial on how to do that night sky effect.
Adding some additional lore to the pinned chapter thread.

SUPPLEMENT: THE CANIS KNIGHTS
FILE: ASTARTES-CH.BR-13-NOX
The Chapter fields a mounted scout formation known as the Canis Knights, riders of the Umbral hounds (High Gothic: Canis umbrae), a giant semi-subterranean wolf-like breed native to Nox. The Knights are attached to the 7th Reserve Company, which holds the place of the bike-trained company in Codex organization — the Chapter's cavalry, mounted on hounds rather than bikes.
The creatures are large enough to bear a fully armoured battle-brother, and make warrens beneath the surface as protected dens, hunting in the endless twilight of the night world. Their senses are adapted to that darkness: excellent night vision, hearing acute enough to border on echolocation, and a heightened sense of smell.
The Knights employ them principally as trackers and scouts, particularly in tunnel systems and buried complexes where conventional auspex returns are unreliable and a scent-trail or a sound in the dark is worth more than a pict-feed. The breed is less suited to open daylight operations; bright light hinders them moderately, and the Knights are therefore deployed principally at night or underground, in keeping with the Chapter's wider doctrine.

ADDENDUM UMBRA

CLASSIFICATION: OMEGA-RESTRICTED — ORDO EYES ONLY
ATTACHMENT TO PRIMARY FILE
STATUS: SPECULATIVE / UNCONFIRMED BY CHAPTER
The Chapter does not acknowledge the following. What is recorded here has been assembled from casualty patterns, internment rates, intercepted Chaplain-rite fragments, and the testimony of a single deceased serf whose account could not be independently verified.
This office believes the Blood Rose gene-seed carries a late-service degenerative condition. Brothers who survive long enough begin to withdraw. Combat vigour fails. The sufferer becomes silent, fatalistic, and convinced that the watch is already lost. They do not succumb to frenzy or bloodlust, they simply fade away. The Chapter’s own fragmentary term, recovered once and never repeated in our hearing, is the Living Death.
The same sensitivity that produces the Chapter’s surplus of psykers appears to open older brothers to this decline. The two effects are likely one flaw expressed at different stages of life, not two unrelated mutations.
The condition shortens living command careers and explains the Chapter’s Dreadnought culture better than terrain and doctrine alone. Internment does not merely preserve a ruined body, it arrests the melancholy. Inside the sarcophagus the brother becomes patient, rather than despairing. This office considers that effect the true reason Librarian and Chaplain Dreadnoughts, and a millennia-old Dreadnought Chapter Master, are treated as doctrine.
A second mitigation exists for those still in living flesh. Refined sap of the blood rose is prepared through a long and closely guarded process and administered as sacrament under Chaplain supervision. The extract is lethally toxic to an unmodified human. To an Astartes it is survivable and appears to slow the Living Death but does not stop it, and the effectiveness varies greatly with each individual marine. Brothers who rely on the sacrament too long arrive at internment already poisoned and spiritually spent and do not survive the process. Some refuse the draught and accept the sarcophagus earlier, but chassis are limited, even with the Chapter’s heavy emphasis on their usage. The result is that much institutional knowledge and valuable combat experience is lost due to factors other than combat attrition.
The Chapter conceals all of this with a discipline comparable to that of certain Blood Angels successors regarding their own ancestral flaw. Recruits are not told. Allies are not told. Even friendly Inquisitorial observers are given terrain, duty, and honour as the explanation for internment rates.
This addendum is inference. The Chapter will deny it. That denial is itself evidence.

Japan is pretty awesome. 🙏
In Japan, "American" isn't just a nationality.
It's an adjective.
A quick Japanese dictionary:
American Dog (n.)
A corn dog. We had to name it after you. It was too good to be anything else.
American Size (adj.)
Extremely large. Used as a warning.
American Coffee (n.)
Lighter coffee, so you can keep drinking it all day. We assume this is how you get so much done.
Amekaji (n.)
"American casual." Jeans, flannel, work boots. Tokyo shops sell it like fine art. Japanese men pay serious money to look like they just fixed a fence in Montana.
Amesha (n.)
"American car." There are Japanese clubs devoted to driving enormous American trucks down streets designed for bicycles. They have never been happier.
So in Japan, when something is bigger, bolder, more generous, or more fun than it needs to be…
we just call it "American."
It's always a compliment.
People who stab other people are 6x more likely to get arrested than people who don’t, new study finds!

This is far from proving causality of course but I’ve gone to the museums a lot with my little ones (I live close by) and the American History museum indeed has kinda poor attendance and deranged woke exhibit text.
Here’s one I snapped:
