The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors has appointed Richard Linton as the university’s 17th president.
Linton, an alumnus, will succeed Tim Sands, who will continue as president until Linton assumes office at the start of the spring semester.

The Navy is investing $1.7 BILLION in military housing across Newport News, Norfolk and Virginia Beach. This is a major investment in the sailors who call our region home.
I’m proud to have passed legislation giving our localities new tools to create Military Centered Community Zones, strengthen the communities surrounding our military installations, and support those who serve.
Hampton Roads is the backbone of our nation's military, and we’ll keep working to make it an even better place for our service members and their families to call home.

I take great pride in representing my hometown of Virginia Beach and the people of Senate District 22. I was proud to lead the bipartisan effort to honor the will of Virginia Beach voters and update our city charter to reflect the 10-1 voting system they supported.
Whether it’s our residents or the dedicated city employees who keep Virginia Beach running, everyone deserves a voice, a meaningful seat at the table, and fair pay for an honest day’s work.
Public service means putting the people you represent first. That’s how I served on City Council, and it’s how I continue to serve in Richmond. I look forward to continuing that work in 2027.

Today, we mourn the passing of former Senator Janet Howell, an extraordinary public servant and a dear friend.
I was honored to serve alongside Janet in the Virginia Senate. When I was first elected, she welcomed me with kindness, generosity, and wise counsel. She was a mentor to so many and led with integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the Commonwealth.
Virginia is better because of her service, and her legacy will endure for generations. My prayers are with her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
